How is this one compare to the Compaq 2800 series
How does this Compaq Evo 800c?
LOL. Where the hell have you guys been? Compaq is not quite the same company it was 10 years ago. In fact, for the last 9-1/2 years Compaq has been considered by all to be the very worst PC supplier on the planet.

Damn, kumanchu. You made me sick too. And without even mentioning Leading Edge or the "other" Packard.

As somebody who's also been looking for good laptop deals I think the best indicator for how good the deal is how close RossMAN comes to buying it. This one looks like a pretty good deal so far

That's not a good indicator because I don't need a laptop and can't afford but yeah I'm addicted to every laptop deal that comes along.

Think I'm gonna check out that $690 Compaq Presario tonight @ Radio Shack.

bit,

I tried using your link, but guess what, I still see that dang $50 coupon in there. How can I get rid of that coupon. I WANT THE 10% OFF COUPON!

rayon,

the $50 will be deactivated after you enter the 10% off coupon. if it still doesn't work, I need to send you my own link. Sorry can't post it here since it's a referral link.

bit,

Sorry, you were right. I should have added the coupon before whining.

It works. When I add the 10% coupon (using your link), the $50 off goes away.

Thanks a lot!!

Heh... I saw the thread the first day about four hours after inception. Rossman had not posted with his thoughts so I was like "okay, this isn't a good deal." Then I come back today and he's put the deal on his signature. Now I know its a hot deal.

When I apply the coupon it shows 10% off but not free ground shipping. Anybody else have this problem?

Well, in my opinion Compaq is Much better then DELL. Well, I have a desktop I bought in 1995 Compaq 5050 Which gave me a head ake for a long time Until Windows Me Came Out.

Now I have A EVO N800c Don't Think I will Ever Go back to Dell.

I have two Dell Dimension 8200 And 4400. Service is Terrible They sent me a new Monitor It didn't work DOA!!!

But One thing Dell gave me Is a Free 20inch LCD. For that I give Props To Dell.

My Compaq 5050 is Still Running No More Problems Since I upgrade to ME And XP.

Damn tax in FL screws the deal for me. $98 :frown:

Edit-> Maybe if I fax them my FL tax ID number, they won't charge me tax.

This sounds like a great deal but I will need to upgrade to 40GB HD and 256 MB ram right out of the box so do you know how easy that would be with it.

just jumped... on the 4100, apparently rossman and myself think alike:
I just priced out a Dell Inspiron 4100 from Dell Small Business for $1,508 - 10% - 2% eBates.com - $150 MIR - free ground shipping = $1,180.06

tax kinda makes it warm, but for a quality laptop there is no substitute!

(i am returning the KDS one i got from Buy.com: gain: much better vid card, faster proc, *mobile* proc, better battery, video out, 1/2 pound lighter. lose: 128mb ram, 8xburner, ~$200(still after MIR), 15decibals from the damn fan, running Prime95 w/out errors, and no more burnt laps... )

now i gotta find a some cheap 256mb SODIMMs!

Congrats on your purchase, nice choice. It was tough deciding between the 2650, 4100 and 8200 because they all cater to different users needs. Unfortunately for me I don't NEED a laptop it's strictly a WANT purchase.

Choices, choices.

Anyone still able to get this code to work.

Was working yesterday before I left work, tried it later that evening and now is invalid code ( eligibility requirements ). Just get the $100 discount.

Any other affiliate promo links? Seemed like a good deal.

TIA

Here's the laptop I think I might buy. I wasn't able to use the 10% off with this config since I built it thru the regular laptop menu, but I was able to configure it so it cost less this way (the 10% off site won't let you get just the 8x DVD). Crucial.com has 128MB for ~$45 and 256MB for ~$99 so memory can be easily upgraded later. I called Dell and they can remove MS Works but it doesn't reduce the price. Also, the final price listed below doesn't take into account the $150 rebate and I confirmed that it can be combined with the $100 off (in case there was any doubt).
