Yes eBates helps! Last few Dell systems that we ordered through Dell.com via eBates, they (eBates) credited us the 2% based on the order amout prior to Dell coupons and discounts.

eBates took about 2 weeks to post the rebate the last time I ordered from dell. It really depends on the retailer. I just ordered from Sephora and Sports Authority, and both were posted within 1 day.

Can you describe in detail how you order through eBates? Here's how I do it:

1) Go to Dell.com, select and configure the system you want, add it to your cart, STOP.
2) Open a new web browser window, leaving the first one in tact (do not close it), go to www.ebates.com click Computers, select Dell Home or Small Business, login, you should see the eBates ad banner at the top with Dell.com underneath.
3) Proceed to check out. During check out the eBates ad banner may disappear but somehow they know that you went through them.

This same method has worked for me when buying a Dell desktop, laptop and even RAM from their peripherals section. So if you're using the same method I just described above, I would contact eBates.com customer service and ask for their assistance.

2% usually isn't a lot on a $15 DVD purchase ... but if you're buying a $300 LCD display or $1,000 laptop it adds up, quickly.

I average $150 every quarter from eBates, thanks to my previous 200+ referrals ... hehe it pays for my cell phone bill

I don't understand why people don't sign up for eBates, it's FREE money!

Ok, I think I did it as you said. Whenever I placed the orders, there was definitely an ebates banner up top.
At the moment, I have place 3 separate orders through ebates:

- Smartbargains
- Buy.com
- Dell

Still no balance on ebates. The 1st order I made yesterday, and the last 2 I made today. How long do you think it should
take to register?

Oh, and I just signed up a buddy, who created an ebates account and bought a dell 17 inch LCD tonight.
The referral bonus should show up too..

Yesterday I also filled out that Juniper CC application because its a good card and ebates said they would give me 10 or 15 (don't remember which)....

u'll get ur ebate $ after a week or so, and i am pretty sure it'll arrive. ebates is quite reliable.

Dell is pretty fast with ebate credits. I usually get them in a couple business days after ordering. Even had a few orders from a famous "cancelled" speaker thread get credited to my account. If you use IE6, be sure to follow the instructions on the pop up to reconfigure your security settings or your order may not be credited.

dell is doing good job at marketing.. free palm.. but then again they are earning as much as regular sales... (by trimming down good parts) .. like cd-rom, 128mb sdram, 20gb 5400rpm HD..

These Dell systems are great for small businesses. You don't need fancy things like speakers for office use. I got one configured for my business with 256ram and a nic for less than $20/month.

Another way to save when ordering systems from Dell is not to pay for their excessive shipping & handling. If you have a UPS account at your company, select "Use your own shipper", then indicate UPS and your account number.. You should then be charged only the actual UPS cost (still waiting for a charge for the 23 systems I ordered this way in August). Dell makes a tidy profit on their "Shipping & Handling" department, but not with me!!

I signed up for ebate sin August but have I've never gotten a check from them, even though I had over $10 on the account before the last check mailing date. My emails to them usually go unanswered as well.

be careful when using your own shipper because dell will not automatically ask for the packages to be insured, nor will they accept any responsibility should anything happen to the packages. i almost got screwed out of a dozen digital cameras because i did that. dell shipped it, but it never got to me. fedex said they didn't have it and that it never went through their system. dell told me i was sol because i had used my own shipping account. only after spending 10+ hours (mostly being on hold, listening to elevator music) on the phone, dell finally caved in and reshipped my cameras.

as far as ebates, i get credited for an order a day or two after the order was placed, and not when it actually ships.

I could get a P4 1.8G for $989 w/o saving on Ebates and coupons(none I believe apply for this), plus a free PDA!
so with ebates it will be about $969, not bad is it?
