Dell building dual opterons?

Seems to have been spotted over on amdzone, with rumour initially triggered by a press release from a market analyst.

They are out now supposedly, but from what little I have read, they stink in performance compared to the Opteron.

What benchmarks did you see? I've been looking and haven't come across any decent benchmarks yet. There is a thread here discussing the lack of benchmarks - your input would be appreciated there.

And isn't that analyst wrong anyways with respect to AMD and Dell history? Michael Dell has sold AMD systems before, so this isn't technically the first. I always suspect reports when glaring errors are made. Dell may very well sell the Opterons, but I'll wait until I see more proof.

Dell is in Intel's pocket big time. There have been rumors of Dell's plans to sell AMD chips for a while. I don't think they have ever specifically denied them, but they are always very quick to try to hush them.

They day Dell sells an AMD CPU is the day Intel stops giving them Free CPUs..........LOL

It will never happen..

I love AMD and dislike Dell because they're Intels best buddie and wont sell AMD based systems.

What little I have read is people saysing they have seen benchmarks, or that they were approxamations, etc.. Absolutely NOTHING that I would ever repeat. This is exactly my problem, the only RUMORS or SPECULATION is bad.

I TOO want any half-valid benchmarks. I will even take the enquirers word for starters.
