i know there have been some deals out there lower than this, but that's all like after PM or double-dipping on rebates. So much hassle. This one is hassle free, and only $259. Although a full change of toner runs around $150 from dell, haha. might just use it til it runs out, then sell the machine on ebay.

I thought $150 sounded REALLY cheap for them. They are actually $240-$250 fot he set of 4.

You should head to OM or OD and check out the prices of replacement toner cartridges for some of the ones they carry. If I remember some of the HP ones were over $200 a piece, and you needed 4 of them.

This looks like a really good deal right now. I wonder if I can pry the Dell badge off?

That's what scares me, the price of toner cartridges. I'd love to have one but I just can't justify spending $150-$200 on toners alone especially if its for home use only.:disgust:

Inkjets cost more money per page, B&W or color. Just because inkjet cartridges cost less doesn't mean don't add up to more; you're just buying them more often.

I think PC World did a review on the Dell laser printers in February. Just remember that the 3000cn = 3100cn in print quality.

Cost per page is just the cost of consumables / predicted page count.

3000cn: $259 x 100 / 2000 = 13 cents per page B&W
3100cn: $324 x 100 / 4000 = 8.1 cents per page B&W

But that is the cost including the cost of the printer.

When you just take the recurring cost of consumables into account, it's a lot less.

4K Page Black Toner 3000/3100cn: $44.99 x 100 / 4000 = 1.1 cent per page B&W
4K Page Color CYM Toner 3000/3100cn: $270 x 100 / 4000 = 6.8 cents per page color

fwiw, 3100cn is $289 at the outlet right now. dunno what the differences are tho.

3100cn includes a second paper tray, and comes with standard 4K toner (versus 2K black, 1K color for the 3000cn).

Does the 3100cn come with the duplexer standard? If you customize the printer it's listed as a $300 option. Why would you want a second one? It's also listed as optional in the tech spec page. The description stating great for double-sided printing seems a bit misleading, since it doesn't appear to be a standard feature, and the 3000cn has the same option.

3100cn has better OS support as well, and Adobe Postscript 3 support.

I don't think it has duplex standard, but the drawer and larger toners makes the 3100cn look good.

I have one of these and I really like the thing.

I think it is based on a Fuji-Xerox C525A.
The Specs (like speed, size, weight, etc) are the same and user interface for the driver is nearly identical although the Fuji driver does not seem to work with the Dell printer
