I understand why Dell restricts all advanced options in the bios. When the average customer calls in for tech support they don't need to be wondering if the system is crashing or locking because the user is overclocking the processor or the memory.
In light of the fact that branded systems are getting so cheap Dell and others might want to alter that policy if they want to grab some of the enthusiast market.
I jumped on the Dell 4550 hot deal because I knew it would be hard, if not impossible to build the system for that price. Especially considering the included OS.
What Dell should do is offer a full featured bios, but inform customers that if they choose to install that bios they cannot use Dell's support. If you want support you have to use the basic bios. Or something like that.
