Dell Dimension 8200 video card

I have an old Dell Dimension 8200 with a GeForce4 MX video card. Said card doesn't have DVI-out so now I'm looking for a low power replacement (PSU is a less than beefy 250W).

I found this card on Newegg. Do you guys think it'll work on the Dell?

Slot is AGP 2x/4x.

Do you need the card solely for the DVI port and have no intentions to game? If so then you can go even cheaper: Link

I have the exact same card haha. Lil ah heck still running after all these years on my 4550. i suggest a new pc lol. But if thats not an option go with Rockinacoustic, keep with nvidia.

The GeForce 6200 was actually my first choice but from the eXtreme PSU calculator, it consumes ~10 more watts than the one I currently have. I'm already at the limit of my PSU so I looked for something that consumes the same or less power. I also figured the HD 2400 would be of use if I ever decide to watch OTA hi-def recordings on that PC.

Not sure if the PSU on my PC is propriety or not so I'm not really keen on replacing the PSU.

Lol, already have a new PC for myself. I mostly use laptops anyway. The Dell is used by the 'rents and we recently had to change the monitor because the old 19" CRT died.

Unless you're running 10 HDDs or something like that, the Dimension 8200 will definitely run the 6200 (and presumably the 2400pro if that's lower power). I had a pretty top of the line model- P4 2.53Ghz and 1GB of ram (which was rediculous for the time), hard drive, a couple of opticals, and it ran a 6600GT without breaking a sweat. The only cards I ever heard of it having a problem with were the 6800ULtra line; anything with lower consumption than that should be fine.

What power supply do you have? Because from some of the forum posts I have seen online, some of the later model Dell Dimension 8200 came with a 400W power supply. The one I have only has 250W and from the posts, the limit seems to be the Radeon 9500/9600. I'm already 10W over that with the GeForce4 MX. So you guys definitely think I'll be fine with the 6200?

Also, another thing I noticed is that the MSI GeForce 6200 is only listed as AGP 8x, while some of the other cards specify AGP 4x/8x. My mobo only has an AGP 2x/4x slot. Are all AGP 8x cards backwards compatible with AGP 4x or should I stick with one that specifically says AGP 4x/8x in the tech specs?
