Basically it is a stripped down version of the Dell E2007WFP. But the stuff they stripped down isn't very important to me. What I love is the price and the fact that it can run HDCP content.

But firstly I am a gamer, though will watch DVDs on it as well. So what do you guys think?

I'm using one right now. I can't give a detailed review since I just got it on Thursday, but at first blush here it seems to be a nice monitor. No dead pixels, nice & bright...

My only complaint is in widescreen monitors in general, since a lot of older games don't support them. But that has nothing to do with the Dell specifically...

Actually it's a whole new lcd really...
the 2007fpw is an 8bit S-IPS screen w/ 16 ms response
the e207fpw is a 6bit TN panel w/5 ms response
the 2007 is brighter and has a higher contrast
there is a reason the e207fpw is $80 cheaper but for the avg gamer, the e207fpw is fine, very competative price point.

I ordered one for work and it arrived this morning. It seems to be a pretty nice monitor.
My only gripe is the stand, you cant adjust it up and down. Other than that appears to be a pretty decent LCD screen.

Has anybody confirmed it is 6 bit panel vs 8 bit?

Editk I see where it is 6 bit, at times it can be kind of grainy. My wife has a 19" samsung with the same issue and it hurts my eyes. I have been on this thing for about 45 mins and whooo do I have a headache. Going to go back to the 19" Ultrasharp soon I think.

ive noticed when i first started using LCDs i could tolerate a cheap one since it was still better than most monitors.

but now... using most TN screen its just not the same as an S-IPS or an AS-IPS. it just loosk more washed out. i'm not even that particular about color but the washed outness kills it. it also seems to hurt your eyes more.

I have always had sensitive eyes which is why I resisted moving to LCDs in the first place. I am the type that cant have CRTs lower than 85Hz or my eyes feel like they are about to bleed. I feared their low refresh rates and heard about the graniness.

I waited until the 2001FP came down to about 450 bucks and bought one 18 months ago. Great monitor really and has served me well. I was thinking about getting one of these for home because I want to try widescreen, but glad I tried it out at work first.

My wife has a 19" Samsung LCD which is worse for graniness than this, but this thing is still burning my eyes out hehe.

yeah me too, i always had problems with CRTs generally under 75 hz. i used to hunt around for the best 2d cards, matrox etc just because it bothered my eyes so much that i ended up buying a 15" LCD just about as early as i could afford one for something like $300.
