Just for the record the for those who care, the NEC 1760V and 1560V do not meet the present MPRII standards for radiation emission standards that most of the new LCD monitors meet. I was set to buy one and happened to notice they are on sale all over. The 17" version is $409 delivered at NewEgg.

okay ordered right before I posted (with FREE ground shipping) and guess what was on my doorstep this morning!!! HOW AWESOME!!!! haha.

Bought two 17" >> screens are native 1280x1024 and are gorgeous....work pretty well in CS (good response time).

As for connector...it was a normal connector (not dvi).

These definately sweet...I wish I could buy more hah.

I really dont want to thread crap, this is an honest question, what is the point of getting an lcd without DVI? there are plenty of 17" FP's out there for right around $400 without DVI, and the Dell goes down to $395 or so, with DVI....someone care to explain?

I bought these for family members who don't necessarily want to upgrade to a DVI capable card. They work plenty well and fast enough.

Not a thread crap at all...and if people really want "cutting edge" they'll get DVI.

dvi isn't the end all and be all. man, i've seen some fabulous lcd's, no dvi. newer vidcards have fabulous dac's nowadays.

also, the 17" can be had for like $285 + tax with 15% and 10% off.

i love being able to connect 2 comps to my 1800FP.

btw theres better deals out there for LCDS - watch the dell combine prices - you start to see a pattern.

KVM's could also be a reason for using a standard 15 pin d-sub connector instead of dvi. To my knowledge there are not any dvi kvm's as of now, but i may be mistaken.

Thanks for the post! I ordered the Sony with a 10% coupon for a total of 261.90+tax. This model (which is nicely featured, IMO) seems to be approaching its end-of-supply life but that's probably a reason for the price cuts but if it means its cheaper for me... well, I won't complain.

And if that wasn't sweet enough, this is a worthwhile, qualifying purchase to apply my credit card rewards points so total 'out of pocket' cost is just tax. Oh yeah!

The Nec 1560V tech specs say 15" diagonal size AND 15" viewable, how could that be?

Unlike a CRT monitor where the bezel can cover part of the actual monitor, WYSIWYG with a LCD monitor?that is, if it's a 17" LCD monitor, it should have 17" viewable display. This is a big issue quite a number of years ago before advertisers finally started showing "Viewable Image Size" (VIS) along with the size of the monitors.

Apparently, there was a misprint by Staples and there is no $100 MIR. They are only offering the $60 MIR that you're already aware of.
