Here is a direct link to the Vista 32 bit drivers for the Inspiron 1525. Look under the "Chipset" section and try the Ricoh drivers. If that's not it try the chipset drivers.

If this does not work give us more details of your situation. Are you reloading the OS from the Dell Windows OEM recovery disc? Is it Vista or XP? Can you use the recovery partition on the hard drive or did your HD fail?
You can tell what the device is by doing the following or you can google for a free Windows unknown device program to run instead.
Open device manager.
Right click on device in question.
Click on Properties.
Click on details tab.
Click on "Device Instance Id" in the drop down. It should look something like this:

The vendor and device id are listed as 4 character hexadecimal numbers. In the above example, 10DE is the vendor id (VEN_) and 0611 is the device id (DEV_). Go to the link below and plug in the device id to figure out what the device is.
