BTW, can someone capture a screen shot of the last page after you order. I got to the point where they say "thank you for the system order" but
so far i haven't received the order confirmation yet....how long does it usually take to receive the first email?

holy cow, the order went through!!! 536 shipped for 256MB config and 20G hard drive!!! yeah...the only thing that turns me off is the 14.1 screen, i wished it was 15. But for 536 i can't complain

Would the $200 rebate for the 2650C apply to this? This would be flaming for that price. If you go on the rebates page and scroll down to the laptops section and click the 2nd link which is 2/7-2/24 (it apparently has been extended since it prints out and shows 3/10 as the last day) you will see the rebate. I am not sure that it applies to this since it says for qualifying laptops only. Please check this out and see what you think?

If you can get it for $594 shipped then yes it's worth it.

Otherwise I think the 2650 is slow, showing it's age, heavy and well sucks compared to the Inspiron 4150.

So if you want a decent budget laptop of good quality and can get it for $594 then BUY IT!

Otherwise I'd hold out for the 4150 or an IBM ThinkPad T or R series but they're going to cost you way more than $594.

It all boils down to $$$.

To update my previous posts, there is NOT a valid rebate for this system. It looked promising for a while there, but it DOES NOT apply to this laptop on the the laptops in the "Hot Deals" section.

This laptop is not great as RossMAN stated (big, heavy, and slow), but if you can get it for under $600 it is worth it. Certainly capable of doing office chores and internet to your hearts content.

even vpr's of this world have a 15.2" widescreens now!!!!

I agree with knightc2's. If you're just going to surf the net (WiFi kicks ass), watch DVD movies (get at least DVD which also reads regular CD's and music CD's), ICQ, e-mail, chat, etc. it's perfectly fine for that.

I don't want to scare you off but this is a very very very plain budget no fancy frills laptop ... if it were me and I didn't already own a Compaq Presario 1500T and I could get it for $594, would I? YES! $594 brand new with 1 year warranty, it's a no brainer, buy it.
