I wanted to ask you for the best deal on this Dell 8200 laptop:

1.7 ghz UXGA
128MB RAM
Radeon 9000
40gb 5400
2nd battery
CD/RW / DVD COMBO

- I have a 10% Home S%P + 2x SB systems 5%
- I would rather choose the Ultra Sharp , but the with the current deals a UXGA is much more cheaper
- the cheapest I could get with this configuration was @ SB with 10% general SB ( not stackable with my 5%) $1547 + tax + shipping
- i think dell home has the better offers right now but i don't have any coupons for it.

I really appreciate any help in getting the best deal for this configuration and the available coupons !

The Ultra Sharp UXGA is totally worth the money. It looks so much sharper and has no ghosting on most games. The only thing is that UXGA is TINY... everything is soo small. If you don't plan on playing games... I would get an SXGA... save yourself a few hundred bucks. And if you want something thats truly mobile... don't get the 8200... that thing is a beast... the 4150 is alot lighter and smaller with similar specs. My 2 cents

yep... get the 4150 w/ 14.1 SXGA screen and you're mobile. the i8200 is a DESKTOP REPLACMENT hence the weight and larger config. if you want to be truly mobile, get the c400 @ 3.5lbs.

I've found the Desktop Replacement size fits my needs nicely since i have a lan connection at home and at work with wireless it's a breeze I don't have to put my works "pc standards software" on my own pc and I don't suffer a loss in performance using the large laptops. It's all in how one uses it.. for many people a laptop could be replaced by a poweful handheld. We have the super duper ultralight toshiba's at work.. they just won't work for me. good luck in your purchase most of the dell's at work have been real sweet.

popeye,

Same here. I'm looking for a desktop replacement model.

Got my eye on the 8200, but am waiting on a better deal.

I can't see buying a machine with 128MB RAM.

I think this one:
http://configure.us.dell.com/dellst..._id=19&keycode=6V728&order_code=82BUND&view=1
Might be a better deal anyhow.

$2018 - $399 rebate = $1619
Inspiron 8200, 1.7Ghz P4-M, 512MB, 40GB, CDRW/DVD Radeon 9000, SXGA 15"
Dell Home No coupons, no tax, no shipping

Wrong place to post this. Should be in the "I WANNA" thread (useless though that it is). Can't we have an "I WANNA" forum?

There's a 10% small business floating around and there's also a 5% from AMEX and Dell. I wonder if there's even more floating around for small business.

The reason I want small business stuff is because I live in NY and CompleteCare is not available to home sales here. But my dad owns a store, so I'll buy as a shop.

I bought the exact system your talking about except I had them bump me to 512 Meg, the Ultra Sharp video and a 60Gig drive. This was back in April which were right off the shelf, so my cost was $4500.00 I would say your getting a heck of a deal, and a second battery to boot!! Giving it's almost December the 2.0 Ghz systems with the same config were 3500.00. Oh well..

Good luck,

May I suggest not answering posts that are contrary to forum rules - it doesn't help to discourage such posts. Why not answer in the "I WANNA" thread and post a pointer to it in here? It would at least (ideally) divert the thread to there.

You should get the UltraSharp UXGA. A forum member posted some pics of the UltraSharp on the Dell forums and it you can see it from like every angle. Someone posted pics from a lesser screen, on the same thread, and it has a "photo negative" effect when viewed from angles.
