As far as video goes- if you can, go with the Mobility 128 chip with 16 MB of V RAM. This thing is about as fast as TNT, which is not too bad for a laptop..

Is it just me or what? :frown: Procrastinated till the last minute of the free shipping deadline last Wednesday to order the notebook.

I was trying to order thru Greenpoints as suggested by zhensel but my order wouldn't go beyond the shipping address...tried the regular Dell website and it was the same...the site was slow.

Determined not to pass this deal, I went and grabbed the phone to talk to a living soul at Dell. Surprise, surprise ...free shipping was only good thru internet orders. LOL
Anyway, I stil ordered the Inspiron 4000 cuz I promised my wife that I'll get her this notebook.
I was charged $45 for second day air and $19+ for CA tax on the one year on site service.
The sales rep was kind enough to give me another $100 discount aside fm the $150 promotion to offset these charges.

I got the same setup Rossman was planning to get except mine has the PIII 600 mhz cpu and the deluxe carrying bag.

moks78 - I believe you got a good deal, if I had purchased a notebook (bought a Dell Dimension 4100/866 desktop instead) I would have opted for the Celeron 600 instead of the Pentium III 600 simply because I don't really need that kind of processing power. Plus the Celeron is only 5-10% slower, uses less power (thus making the batter life longer) and doesn't create as much heat.

Sure you could have bought a really nice IBM ThinkPad, Toshiba or SONY VAIO but I doubt you'd get the same specs for under $2,000.00 Just be glad you didn't Compaq.

That's good to know. I've been looking at BB, CC and OD ads for notebooks just to compare. They have HP and Compaq with almost the same specs but as you know they have some reliability problems so I'm glad I got this Dell notebook.

I think IBM Thinkpads are still the best that's why they cost sooooooo much!:frown:

I have to wait for two weeks before I get this puppy and enjoy it...I mean before my wife will be able to use it. Hehehe
