Dell/Intel has better price/performance than AMD?

Little OT, but why there is no choice (or at least I didn't see it) in DELL's site to buy computer without MSWindows or any other software?

Small biz>servers>1400SC. Dual pIII-1.13, ECC RAM, Ultra160 controller, Ultra160 10krpm disc. All for $539 shipped (I am not sure if this deal is alive, but similar deals will appear)

I just don't know what to think. Even the walmart durons with linux/no os are more expensive than this P4-2.4 Is someone losing money? It just looks like one of those "insane" gimmick $99 used car deals on TV. But they are actually doing it, I bought one. Why can't the bloody gateway do the same with AXP2400+? god knows I would have preferred that! Can anyone explain??

Yeah, that's practically giveaway, only P4-2,4Ghz processor alone costs around $275 in here and cheapest 15" TFT monitors are ~$450. And local Dell resellers are selling old 600Mhz Celerons with 64-128Mb RAM, ~10Gb HDD, i810 video etc. for $750...
