damn it!!.

It doesn't seem like a hot deal anymore.
I called my Dell Rep and she say that they have remove the Complete Care package already because I live in New York. Moreover, she said that my price wouldn't change because they had a glitch on their system and that the price that I was paying was still good (100 bucks) cheaper if I buy it now. So I am paying the same price but without a 1 year CompleteCare. I was pissed!!!!

I am pissed.. Should I cancel???

You can get your $99 back after you get the laptop. I'm going to call them and state that they sold me a warranty which is not valid in CA.
Same story to credit card. legal and clear.

The salespeople you deal with on the phone are sleazy and incompetant. They tried downgrading the video card without my permission and now they even claim that the 32MB isn't even an option (even though it's right on their website)! Be careful.... get everything in writing and doublecheck it all.

Does anybody remember if Dell has a big sale after Christmas?
I might just wait until then if they do.

I think they've corrected the 32 MB video card price error (as of 12/13 2:50pm EST). I can't seem to get the deal to work now. Anyone else confirm this?

"AmEx Blue doubles the warranty on it to two years... Not bad! "

I have a blue, can someone point out to me where in their lawyer-wordings does it say double warranty?
Thanks

EDIT: Ooops, I found the writing, but how does it work? Does it cost extra? How do you claim the warranty?

Got my confirmation yestarday! However, I did the described procedure and came out to $1244 which is still a pretty good deal. Then they dropped it by $99 because my state, NY, is not valid for the "Complete Care" service. So, I'm getting it for $1145.

Free CDRW
Free Carrying case
Free Shipping
No Tax
$-25 coupon

= Pretty sweet deal =).

Just got off the phone with my account rep. I was successful in upgrading the screen to SXGA for $70 and received a credit for $99 for the CompleteCare warranty since it is no good in my state. My total was $1169 which included the SXGA display, 20gig HD, higher capacity battery, and the $5 travellite module.

I think this link should be good for the rebate page

Dell rebates
Looks like its good through the 20th.
Should probably call your rep to see if you are eligible for this.

I really liked this deal, but I'm opting for the 8100 with the Radeon 7500

I just called and it was too far along to switch screen.
About the RAM, I talked to a guy in accesories who thought I was really stupid for asking him to check the part number of the RAM I ordered to make sure it was [edit]PC133[/edit].
me: I'm not sure I got the right ram, could you check the part number on my order to see if it is PC133?
him: did you go through the memory configurator?
me: Yes but I just want to make sure it is correct before I put it in my laptop...could you check please?(then i give hime my order #)
him:Well, it says on your order that it is for the 4100.
me: Ok, there's no way to double check that it is not pc100?
him: Well, we are out of the 128mb...
me: Okay... thanksbye.

<< What is the travelite module, and where is the 100 Student Rebate? >>

It's a plastic shield that fits in the cdrom/floppy bay allowing you to shed about .4 to .7 lbs depending which drive you are replacing it with. It's only useful if you want to pack light and can do without the drive(s). It's only a $5 option at the time of purchase.

ok the CSR person i just talked to was the biggest asshole in the world. I was talking to him about the complete care thing, and he was like, SINCE YOU DIDN'T GET CHARGED, WE WILL VOID IT. and also, he was like, well you got all these promotions like free shipping, and 25$ off along with the glitch, im not going to offer you anything like the upgraded screen.

He also said, talk to the customer rep who gave the guy teh screen upgrade.

GRRR!!! which CSR did u talk to?? and ext??

$100 Rebate is NOT VALID for the following reasons:
1) in conjuction with free CDRW/DVD drive upgrade
2) Purchases made in the Home Sales department

Read the fine print people!

Man, I only got $74 reduced in the email I received for the complete care thing, but I emailed my rep to see if he'd give the remaining $25. Also, Im confused.. is the SXGA upgrade $70 more or is it $10 less... there's conflicting posts here!
