Same here I also wish I had jumped on the Dell 8100 deal as well esp considering the FREE 3 year warranty.

How exactly is the Compaq lame? The Presario 700 is lame but the 1500 and 2800 are great laptops, definitely competition for Dell and IBM.

got a direct link to the 4150 model? I can't find it on the site. It might be a good deal if a 15" UXGA or Ultra UXGA monitor was swapped in.

edit: nevermind. heres the link

I think the Compaq Presario 1500 for around $1,049 after coupon and rebate is pretty damn sweet.

Although I am tempted (as always) to buy a laptop I really can't afford one and probably would rarely use it, so it would collect dust until I sell it.

Dell Home is running a pretty good deal on 8200 laptops right now. $200 rebate + free carry case + free shipping. Ebates also has 3% cash back right now for Dell Home. I was able to get a nicely configured (for my needs) 8200 for just under $1500.

1.6 Ghz P4
SXVGA+ 15" screen
128mb ram (will upgrade myself)
30Gb hd
64mb Geforce4go
DVD

$1748 - $200 dell rebate - $52.44 ebates = $1495.56 shipped!

MrHappyMonkey - The $30 off Compaq Presario laptops deal at CostCo ($200 instant coupons + $100 MIR) should have died Sunday 8/18 but it was working as of yesterday Monday 8/19. I'm not sure if it's still working today or not as I can't remember my CostCo.com password and even after trying the I forgot my password feature the pword never gets mailed to me!

dshodson - The Compaq @ CostCo.com deal would have been great for you if you had taken advantage of it last week (it was in my sig for an entire week) it's possible that the deal is still alive today, not sure though. Go here and select the Compaq Presario 1500T Series laptop.

Here's what I configured for $1,459.99 - $100 MIR = $1,359.99 shipping is included I'm not sure if you can get an additional $200 off or not, if I knew my damn CostCo.com password I could find out but this is a VERY good deal:

Presario 1500T-1.40Ghz
Mobile Intel ® Celeron™ 1.40Ghz-M Processor
256MB 266MHz DDR SDRAM (2 DIMMs)
20.0 GB UDMA Hard Drive
8X DVD/CD-RW (8X/8X/24X) Combo Drive
15.0" TFT SXGA+ Display
Microsoft Productivity Suite
56K V.92 PCI Modem
ATI RADEON 7500 with 32MB DDR memory
1.44 MB Floppy Drive
AC Adapter Included
8 cell LiIon Battery 57.6 WHr
Integrated 10/100 NIC
Microsoft® Windows® XP Home Edition
1yr Parts / 1 yr labor/1yr mail-in
Ground Shipping
Promotional Carrying Case

A few notes:
RAM - The minimum RAM is 256MB, for an extra $50 you could get 1 SoDIMM instead of the standard 2 SoDIMM's.
LCD - You specified at least an SXGA screen, this is a 15" SXGA+ LCD if you were to downgrade to a 15" XGA subtract $50 downgrade another step to a 14.1" XGA subtract $100
HD - Upgrade to a 30GB add $75, upgrade to 40GB add $150, upgrade to 60GB add $300
CD - Downgrade to a DVD-ROM subtract $100, or upgrade to a combo 8x DVD/24/10/24 CD-RW add $100
Battery - I highly recommend upgrading to the 56.0 WHr Lithium Ion battery for an extra $29
Carrying Case - It's a promotional freebie but it costs $1

If you decide to buy this laptop from CostCo remember to pay using an Amex credit card since they offer 1 year extended warranty for free.

Best of all if you don't like your laptop or have any problems, you can return it to any CostCo B&M which has the BEST return policy of any store.

The link does not go to the 4150 but to the 2600 one.

How do I get the 4150 to that price?

Thanks

Good question, the cheapest I found get it for is $1,399 base price - $100 MIR = $1,299

For some reason there's a $200 discrepency

BTW - Here's a direct link to the Dell SB Inspiron 4150.

Thanks. Actually it's a lot easier to understand on your website xpbargains.com search (CTRL F) for Inspiron 4150SE for the description.

so is there any confirmation that the mail-in rebate will work with the instant-rebate? The 4150 would be awesome for $1099 + tax.

Oh gosh! What should I do!?

Well, I went to DellSB web site and there they say the deal is valid until September, 21 2002, so I guess we still have some time, right? The free shipping is valid only til August 21, 2002 though (today).

Anyways, I think I'll try calling Dell too and see if I can get any information on that $350 mail-in rebate -- I'll be going for the Inspiron 4150SE. I was hoping it had a DVD instead and I was looking into buying an extra battery, but I can't find them in the options for the Inspiron SE (you have this option if getting the same notebook from Dell Home).

Please, if anyone have any info about how to combine the $300 instant rebate with the $350 mail-in rebate, let us know!

Btw, In_Ur_Face, what do you mean by having no luck with the CSRs and then saying that "they said order it and just send it in"? Did they say they would honor it or they said "I don't know, just order it and send it in and try your luck"?

Thanks,
Rayon

Edit: Direct link to your choice of Inspiron notebooks here -- this link is not that obvious in Dell's web site.

Add this great deal in your shopping cart, click on Detailed View, and you will find 461-6844 somewhere in the page, which means this will actual make the final price to around $1100.
