I know there's a thread made regarding a Inspiron 1100. There's a 15% coupon being mailed out now and it's stackable with the IR given to the laptops on the SB site. I've tried it and got a D600 down to 1120 after tax and it seems like another member had gotten it too. I know this is a YMMV case but it's definitely worth a try.

Brag and moan? Maybe but the customer rep gave me the discount without any hesitation from the manager. I believe this is a hot deal.

Add it with the deal. I believe it can be done with any laptop series as long as it's above 999.

The 15% Off isn't stackable online. At least not for me.
Rather, the 15% just overrides the $250 off for the D600.

go online, custom the lappy that you want and save it into your account. Call 1 800 917 DELL and talk to a CSR saying that you have a problem with a coupon. Tell them that you cannot add the 15% off. They will get some personal details of your's and will then ask for the coupon. Give the mthe coupon, they will then finalize the price for ya, he'll put you on hold for 2-5 minutes but it's worth the wait. After talking to the manager, you should be set.

At least, that's how it went for me. Very cool guy.

if I pick the $1 buy-out plan, I'll own the machine when I'm done right?

and plus, what if I pay more than the monthly payment, would that reduce my principal, thus reducing the total paid over time.

I may try that... I had a desktop deal in my cart and had to coupon accepted and showing the price reduction, then when I clicked to procede with the checkout the system went to an error page indicating that my shopping session had timed out. After going back in again it indicated that I had already used my coupon... aaaaaaaarrrrrrrggggghhhhhhh:|
