MOD: Please allow this tread as many of us that got into the deal have not gottten our 20% DELL MSN Check yet.

For those of you who did not get the 1st batch of DELL MSN Rebate check ....
Hopefully we will be on the boat this time. I suggest that you send a complaint email
to US_Holiday_Promos@Dell.com again to illustrate your frustration. Its been more than the promised 8 weeks obviously

I also hope the mods allow to keep this thread open since it does pertain to a Hot Deal.

My Dell Inspiron 4000 order was placed online 11/28/2000.

MSN Passport 20% check received from Dell last week. They sure did take their precious time but it did arrive!

I second that ! Please MOD allow.


Dx-treme and others STOP using email to Dell.
Write them snail mail. After their(Dells) first (snail) letter send them another with a copy to USPO for mail fraud. I also sent a copy of all to them and NJ State Attorney's office.

Dell sent the check soon after the next day FEDEX!

I third that!

Really I think we need a place to keep up on the rebate status for the Dell/MSN deal. I ordered my I8K on 11/24/00 and haven't recieved the rebate check yet... Think I'll fire off an e-mail to Dell if mine doesn't come in by the end of this week.

BTW when did everyone order theirs?

Ordered on 12/8 received 12/15 no check yet.

I am gonna wait till the next batch if i still do not have the rebate i am going to start calling them and threatening to report this to the BBB and other relevant governing bodies. If i am not mistaken Dell had gotten into some troubles with some agency before, anyone recall ??

Dude Ive had nothing but problems with my I8k. First my hard drive need to be exchanged. Then the Hard Drrive they sent me started making wierd noises and then my LCD screen goes out and now after replacing my hard disk for teh third time I here a constant noise of vibrating metal sheets or aluminium.

I still have yet to do fully use this thing. Everytime I get something fixed someother problems starts. Maybe I got a lemon laptop.

I bought my laptop on Nov. 1 and have yet to see a check. I've called and emailed to no benefit.

Therefore, if I get no response from Dell, I will be filing a lawsuit in S.C. state court against Dell and Microsoft within a few weeks.

If enough of you have been affected by Dell's fraud and unfair trade practices, I could file a class-action suit in Federal Court. Keep this thread updated and I will consider representing any of you who are in the same situation as me.

Hopefully that will not be necessary.

What snail-mail address did you use to send your complaint to Dell? Apparently it was to the correct one that got read immediately, rather than going to a "mail pile" never to be read only months after. I would be appreciative if you could pass that information on to us unfortunate souls who have been mislead by this so-called company. I admit, I have little experience dealing with this type of situation as I've never come across a company that has been so dishonest and misleading, while at the same time they are posing as a reputable company.

Ordered: 11/28 I8000 no rebate, despite being "promised" I would receive it back in Dec (I have email proofs too); however, no recent replies to the US promotions email name.

I emailed them repeatedly and when I saw I wasn't getting a straight
answer I disputed it and I got my check within 2 weeks, so I cancelled the dispute. You have 90 days to file a CC dispute , as long as you call it in before the 90 days you will be covered (for the claim) but still at the mercy of your cc company.good luck

I ordered my I8000 on 12/08/00 no e-mail confirmation of rebate or check.

I just sent the following e-mail to us_holiday_promos@dell.com. I will keep you guys posted if I hear anything and cisco thanks for the CC tip.




Dear MSN

I ordered a Dell Laptop I8000 $2449.20 on 12/8/00 using my passport 20% off and have not received my 20% off rebate check. My Dell account customer #xxxxxx order and my Dell Order #xxxxxx.

I also have a copy that I printed out while I was in check out on line ordering the Dell Laptop step 5 Of 5 which said top left in red letters: (Attention MSN Holiday Shopper! For shopping MSN eshop and using your Passport Wallet in Dells checkout, you will get a 20% cash back from your system order when completed on line!) which I have not received. Also on the second page of my completed order, which I printed out on the very bottom, it says the following:

A 20%cash rebate will be issued etc etc etc.


I have sent you 3 previous e-mails regarding this matter if I don?t hear from you soon I will have to dispute this Dell purchase with my credit card company. I hope we can resolve this matter soon.

I ordered I4K on Dec 12th in the morning... got email confirmation... still no check.

I just got the following reply:

Just received this reply from Dell regarding the status of my Refund:

We have researched your order and found your account showed one or more
credits/returns. For this reason the order was flagged, and we needed to
clarify what the issues were before a check could be released. As far as we
know customers that fell into this category have been processed, and checks
are now being cut to be mailed early next week (Monday or Tuesday). Your
check should be for the amount of $431.17. We certainly did not intend, nor
expected such drawbacks.
We apologize for any inconvenience this delay may have caused.

This Sucks.

I placed an order within the time constraints of the rebate. They had some problem with my payment methods, and decided to cancel the order without my consent.

I was pissed, so I called my sales rep and asked if he could arrange for me to place a new order and still get the rebate. He talked to a supervisor and cleared it.

Now however, I emailed the Holiday Promos email address, and I have been told that after reviewing my order, it was NOT eligible for the rebate. Upon hearing this, I became very angry and responded wanting more information... I told them to contact my sales rep (and gave the name and email address) to clear up the misunderstanding.... I have yet to receive a response to my last email.

So basically, now I am out $500.

If anyone has any suggestions for me, please drop me a PM.
GL to everyone else waiting for a rebate check.

Finally got a response from Dell saying much the same as everyone else's email. I guess my order was flagged when I returned an extra ethernet PCMCIA card that was shipped with my order. Hopefully they will get it right and send out the check when stated. The email is below. Hope everyone gets their checks.

I Just received my check today from Dell. So I guess best to start camping in front of the mail box if you are waiting for yours. All in all, good err... flaming hot deal but took way too long for the rebate checks to be sent out.
