I did order NEC 1860nx with 15% LCD and 15% new customer. Too bad they don't give me 20% back of the catalog coupon. Otherwise it'll be even sweeter.

How's this monitor (analog mode) compared to the PX171M? The response rate of the PX171M is faster, but that doesn't really matter for me. I'm wondering about image quality.

Seems that this LCD has a low contrast ratio (350:1) while the Dell 1800FP is 400:1

Should I be concerned about this?

My friend has the 1800FP and it's absolutely beautiful.

I love my Dell 1800FP other than the fact that I can't read the fvcking text! I've tried a couple of different video cards. I'm running it in DVI and I've tried all the cleartype settings. Even the MS settings for the BGR (instead of RGB) that are only available if you're running SP1 in Windows XP. I don't know what it is. If I look closely at the text, it's clear enough, but I think the texture of the screen is making it appear blurry to me when I sit back and try to read something on the screen.

I'm about to send my monitor back and wait for the technology to get better before I try another LCD. One of my primary reasons for wanting an LCD was to have something easier on the eyes, especially reading text and this is the opposite that I wanted.

for the guys debating on whether to get this LCD or another, I just went with the Planar PX171M.
$550 - same discounts = ~$420 shipped.

it has 16ms response, built in speakers (not that i care) and includes DVI cable.
