If there are any spare SB coupons floating around, please PM me. Would be a great compliment to a rig I am slowly putting together.

Hey if anyone could PM me a 15% SB email coupon I would really appreciate it. I am a poor college student who has wanted to buy an LCD for years :frown:

while this is true, are we gunna see another LCD priced under $450 with a 25ms or even 16ms response time....and can someone briefly explain a 1:160 contrast ratio

also is this deal worth it or is it better to hold off until another good deal comes around on the Dell 1800FP ?? (its has practically the same specs)

If you are not a gamer, I think this is a great deal!

unfortunately i am a gamer, mostly FPS games actually, but I think I'd rather sacrifice lower response times (~30ms) for higher processing and video card power...

There was a deal on the Hitachi CML175SXWB from MonitorsDirect.com a while back. It was $429.01 shipped w/3 year next day warranty.

There was another post about this monitor and company a day or so ago. Great monitor for gamers at a great price. Plus for .01 more, you get a 3 year warranty. Even better, they have a great return policy in regards to defective monitors/dead pixels.

Now if this monitor would only fall below $400. I'd be game!!!

Hitachi CML175B - $469 - $40 coupon and free shipping coupon. Add $.01 for 3 year warranty and it's $429.01 shipped. The free shipping coupon is on the page linked. The $40 off coupon can be found at tech bargains dot com.

that hitachi looks tempting, although even with a 16ms response time I think it's lukewarm at $429.01.....maybe i'm being too picky, but for seeing older deals on the 18inch Dell 1800FP for $384 shipped thats where i'm coming from

what would you guys get if the price dropped below $400 (after shipping and taxes):

Dell 1800FP 30ms but 18in
OR
Hitachi CML175B 16ms but 17in

I'm talking in terms of u being a gamer....i am a gamer and still tend to give the edge toward the bigger screen over the faster response time....hmm, decisions decisions!

I think I fixed my text problem with the Dell 1800FP. I turned off cleartype and moved the monitor about a foot closer. Seems to be fine now.

BTW.. How far do you guys sit from your LCD monitors? I am sitting about an arms length right now.

I guess this deal is still "hot" most of the 15% rebates are good till friday and just noticed all non-dell LCDs in small business give you a:

"Buy now and as a valued Dell Small Business customer, save 15% on your Software and Peripheral purchase."

Without entering a code.

Anyone know if this stacks with 15% off copons?

If it does I'm looking at the planar 20 inch for around $670 if my math is right....

I have 18.1" Dell UltraSharp. Ive tested this LCD with UT2003, No One Lives Forever 2, and Command and Conquer: Generals, there are no ghosting whatsover. I'm very please with the LCD.
I have no idea what you guys are talking about the clear text problem. Does it look the text looks bluury? I'm using WinXP SP1, DVI, and using MS clear type tweak.

i dont know, i see this monitor as virtually the same as the Dell 1800FP, and possibly a little less bright...at the best I've seen people ring it up around ~$420...I'd rather wait until the Dell 1800FP goes down again (there were older posts having this LCD at $384 shipped)

TDY2KN01, you're referring to the Dell 1800FP, right?

How exactly do you use the tweak? The tweak that I'm referring to lets you choose to turn on Cleartype, then choose BGR (what I chose) or RGB, then it asks you to pick one of six boxes of text. Is this the tweak? I haven't found a box of text yet that looks clear to me. Am I missing something?

BTW.. I'm using XP Pro with SP1 and the DVI connector.

It's probably too late for this reply now, since the deal is way over, but I grabbed the NEC 1860nx for $429.34 -- that's with 15% Dell coupon, 15% SB coupon, free shipping, and tax added. I thought it was a pretty good deal considering I probably would have paid about $600 if bought in a retail store. HeinekinMan -- good to hear you like it... haven't received mine yet, ships on the 18th. I think they ran out of stock on this one.
