Dell new 20" wide LCD 2005FPW. Has anyone seen this beast?

I have a friend who has an expensive LCD that looks great in games and in Windows, but when he plays MPG or AVI files, they look like crap. Why is that, and does the 2001 and 2005 have the same issues when it comes to playback of movie files?

DAMNIT, I just plugged it in. There is a line going down the screen vertically. No dead pixels as far as I can tell, damn this! Calling for a replacement. Can I call the service # 24/7?

Yeah, you have to wait a bit for the couoons to come around sometimes. However, it is not really very hard to find them when they do. I just googled for "dell coupons" once a day for about a week, and followed the top 3-4 links. It will take you about 2 minutes, and you will find the coupons you are looking for.

Can somebody tell me the maximum and minimum physical height of the 2005FPW LCD? Also for the 2001FP if you have it? I just want to make sure they fit in my desk OK (underneath the hutch I have on top of it).

im really debating whether or not to buy this monitorm but im wondering if anyone can answer this...i recently got the 25% off from the dellf game, but even with that it comes out to like $640...i see alot on ebay that are brand new that can be had for about $550 with shipping...what im wondering is is that if i get it off ebay, and i happen to get a dead pixel column or the backlight issue, will dell still warrenty it? the auction says it has a 1 year warrenty, but i read on dell that they need to transfer it. anyone know? if i can get it warrentied still from getting it from ebay i will give someone my code for 25% off

The information you seek is on the Dell Web site under each product .. both the minimum and the extended height. Did YOU measure you hutch (grin)?

How in the Holy Hell can I get warranty information for my 2005FPW. I have my order and customer numbers, but I do not know what the hell my service tag is. I tried all the different number combos on the back by the black bars.

DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW TO GET WARRANTY INFO W/O A SERVICE TAG? I am going insane with this crap!

DAMNIT, I HATE DELL.

My gf just called them because I can't at work, and the replacement 2005FPW is going to take 5-6 days to get here. What happened to all this next day shipments???

I am thoroughly disappointed. This monitor is sh*tty quality and I noticed 3 dead pixels today on top of the streak down the screen. I am scared to get a replacement............

What a nightmare, I do not know why I keep going back to them.

I have not sent mine back. Mine has 1 stuck red pixel that's just barely noticeable on a black background if you look for it. I also have very minor backlight bleeding in the upper left corner that only appears after a few hours of usage. It's so minor that I barely notice it, and I run a black background all the time.

Well I have had my 2005FPW for a good amount of time, I found my eyes hurt I dont know why I have 20/20 vision and I sit a good amount away from the monitor. The brightness and gamma and contrast is adjusted via my video card. And my eyes hurt Im not sure what it is the "Screen door affect"

Anyone with the 2005fpw care to comment how they have there setup and also if they get any discomfort.

Other then that its great.. I was actually getting thoughs about replaceing it.

well theres 2 that havent...id really hate to pay for one on ebay and have it defective and then not being able to get it warrentied if it has that problem....btw...i have an extra coupon code for 25% off any flat panel, if anyone wants it pm me

I can concur my 2005FPW is stunningly bright and I have no messed with the brightness settings because the POS is going back because there is a line/streak going down the middle of the screen. I guess I could see how it might give you a headache.

But I can tell it is brighter than my 2001fp and I thought THAT lcd was bright!

This replacement better be perfect!

PS Does anyone know a video card setting (Nvidia) to make 4:3 aspect ratio videos fill the screen and not have those black bars on the sides?

Well since the 2005 has better brightness then the 2001fp what did you do to your fp to make it more tolerable to view without dis comfort. ?

I got my 2005FPW at the beginning of the month and I'm sending it back because of the usual unacceptable backlight problem but I'm not getting another one because the 2001FP I got a few days ago is the most perfect LCD monitor I've ever had. No backlight problem and no bad pixels. Actually no bad pixels on the 2005FPW either. I'd choose the 2001FP over the widescreen anyway because it fits my work habits better. The only thing I'll miss about the 2005FPW is the brightness which I happen to like.

As an aside to the person interested in saving a little over $100 on eBay - it's worth the extra money to buy from Dell and be able to have a replacement sent if the one you get is defective, with no questions asked.
