I don't believe all of them are just ready to ship out. I think they build some of them from spare service parts. They did that with mine, but the delay was only for 2 days and then they shipped it.

My gripe is that the 320GB WD drive in it is noisy as hell and parks the heads constantly. I'm gonna be ripping it out soon and replacing it with my spare 80GB Intel G1 SSD or I'll order a Momentus XT.

Yeah so I had to go ahead and pick up an Alienware M11x R2 to go along with that M17X to take on the road with me.

Damn nothing like an mini version of the big boy with decent graphics for the road.

Got both for $1800ish.

Also just saw pretty much the exact same model of M17X at Best buy for $2200. Hahahaha

I've run in to a problem with the Alienware 11x R2 line. Apparently if you ordered one with a i5-520m(2.4g) you will probably end up an i5-520um @ 1.8gig.

I had to call because it wasn't giving me free shipping and when the person was reading the order back to me it was the wrong processor. They were able to confirm that it said one thing on the website, but then different on their system, using the same system ID.

Agreed, but it's all symptomatic of the same issue - that someone seems to hand-copy information from one system to another.... Sounds like Mr. Mom "520m, 520um, whatever it takes!".
