I have been looking for an XPS 400 that I can turn into my HTPC and have been keeping and eye on the outlet. There are currently almost 350 units on the site. As I watched the total machine count climb, I waited for a discount to move the stock out. Suddenly this afternoon, they began to offer $100-$200 off the price. I had my eye on a particular unit, so I had copied down the tag number. Without a discount of any kind, it was $749. Imagine my surprise when I located it and now with a $150 discount, it was $759. In my mind, although it may be legal (I'm not really sure if it is or not) it certainly isn't ethical.
I always knew that they played around with prices of the new stuff, but now it appears that even the outlet isn't safe. A very strange way to do business by alienating your customers and ripping them off. OK, rant is over now, feel better.
