Today (5/5) there is free shipping on Dell outlet Inspiron (and Latitude) notebooks. Plenty of new (never been powered up) and refurbished. Lots under $500 (Inspirons), no rebates, no shipping.

I ordered a "previously ordered new" Inspiron B130 with 15.4" screen, 60GB drive, 512 RAM, modem, 1470 wireless, cd burner/DVD player combo, Celeron M 1.4GHz, 6 cell battery, Win XP home (with cd) and online training for $459 plus tax.

Dell is also giving free shipping AND handling on all Outlet Dimension desktops as well. I FINALLY beat the effin script kiddies to two sub-$200 Dimension desktops. Both were <$200 shipped/DPA! Nothing impressive spec-wise, but I needed to get a few machines for using as cash-register computers or fax/workorder machines.

i wonder how the script kiddies now circumvent dell outlet's countermeasure that when you hit the site too fast too often they warn you

My B130 w/ a 1.73GHz P-M gets 3:30-4:30 on the battery depending on the brightness level of the screen.

Never used, cancelled orders, or returned systems that were never fully booted. Systems tested by Dell Outlet.

They don't know if it's been booted - I've read how others get the system, Ghost it immediately - have their way with it and then restore the ghost image and return it.
They just never went thru the reqular splash screen power up to windoze.

have their way to do what, stress the processor? hard drive?
i mean they have to return it in 21 days afterwards anyway! its not like you can keep it for a year and return it

Don't know if it makes a difference but "All new Dell systems have an End User Software Agreement (EUSA) screen that appears the first time the customer powers on the computer. Once the EUSA is accepted, the screen never appears again. If the screen appears, the system has never been used." I gather that the previously ordered new ones still have the screen appearing.

Not about notebooks, but a co-worker ordered a 3Ghz pci-e PC w/ an 80gb hdd off of dell's outlet site for $269 (shipped) over the weekend. After he received it, he called them up, said he didn't want the machine (partially true, he didn't realize it was pci-e) and they gave him a $75 coupon.
