DELL P2.4 "no deal/deal dead" COMES THRU!

Am I the only one? I got the following notice

Package Shipped on 10/10/2003 Stage: In Transit

Status: On Schedule, 10/9/2003 9:24:00 PM
Carrier: FEDERAL EXPRESS
Delivery Estimate: October 16 - October 18

I ordered a 2.8/9800 Radeon/no rebate/512 RAM/3 year wr.
for 545 (incl. 9% tax)

So, it seems to go thru, one had to do no rebate and change the P2.4 to something higher...

ANYONE else who got in?

I've seen plenty of people who ordered just one and still got cancelled. Myself included. That's what I don't get.

I ordered two, one for me and the other for my sister. I got a call from dell today verifying the credit card number and address.
The only thing different is that i got 9800's in both equalling $798(around that) for both...

WTF is Dell up to? This hurts worse than if they just cancelled all the orders. Allowing some to go through and not the others is just plain bad sense.

I ordered one with the GeForce FX 5200 and the 40 GB 7200 hard drive and mine didn't go through. I suppose you had to upgrade your machine to a certain amount.

This is kind of the definition of bait and switch. You go to their site expecting one sale and they basically just have it up to lure you into buying more expensive components. If you don't they just cancel your order. Just another example of how companies go unchecked. Sorry to the people that get theirs , but ALL orders should have been cancelled, not just the cheap ones.

I have to agree with you here lzpoof. It would be one thing, if they cancelled all the orders. That would be acceptable, as they made an error, and I'd accept that. But the fact that it appears all the low end base model orders are being canceled, but the ones with 2.8 and the 9800 cards are being accepted, that is just a red flag right there.

how did you guys find out about your cancelled orders?

i have recieved a confirmation email. but no follow up indicating ship time. i went to the dell site and there is no information about my order. should i assume its cancelled?

I ordered the Radeon 9800 Video upgrade as well and my order got cancel. It must be a RACIAL thing.

Dell saw my name as James WONG and said CANCEL!!!

Today I tried an order update via email to dell, to upgrade the memory to 512MB. Now to wait and see what happens...
