DELL Partition Question

I've been working with alot of Dell laptops lately and when I go to FDISK the HD, I see a Non-Dos 31MB Partition on them. Anyone know what this partition is for? I doubt it will affect anything, but was just curious as to what its there for. Its a 20GB drive all for the C: so I don't know why Dell chose to include this Non-Dos partition, I'm FDISK'ing to create a C: and D: . Thanks.

DO NOT remove that partition. That is the DELL "power saving" partition and they have utilities on their website for each Laptop to manage - create, remove, make larger - that partition.

The utility is particular to each laptop make/model. You can get the correct file to download by going to the DELL website and typing in your Service Tag Number. This file will create a bootable floppy with the correct utility for managing that partition.

You can get rid of it...dont believe the hype.
It is of no use, i have used AEFDisk on many a Cpxh, i, j , LS, L400 etc etc...
If you intend to use the Dell support diagnostics disks then keep it, if you dont ..then dump it.

thanks for the info, I'll take a look at the diagnostics and see if its worth keeping. You mean their is info on that partition currently? and how do i see it or do i have to go to the Dell website and enter the service number first. oh well, I guess I'll see first. Thanks again
