I picked one up at $399 (plux tax) before rebate as well. Looking forward to getting it!

After pricing parts for just a 2.4C, 128mb RAM, Intel 875 mobo and a case online for just under $400, the complete (and evidently very quite) system sounds like a winner.

Heck!! For this kind of a deal, I got myself two of them. One going to be used as my desktop and the other a server. Good thing I got 3 of those 200Gig HD for around $60 after MIR couple months ago from CC.

The 8300 usually has all the PC "extras", such as CD burner, graphics card, more memory, bigger HD, office applications, and most importantly, operating system. If you don't need these things (i.e. a lot of spare parts laying around), and want a stripped down 8300, this is a great way to go.

Yeah - I guess that's where I'm coming from... I have a Corvette body, I just need a new engine!

According to the FAQ they are there, but hidden. I think at one point people bought the 8300 front thing so they'd have access to it.

My P4 2.4 sc400 w/1gb pc3200 shows two processors. Looks like Hyperthread to me.

the 2.4 wont have HT processor, i got on the deal while ago (paid 400ish for 2.8HT) and if i remeber correctly only the 2.8+ processor had ht

The 2.4 should have HT

aaah sorry i didnt see the bus speed. When i got my 2.8 ,
the 2.4 came with slower bus (533 i think) so it wasnt HT.

I wasnt even aware that intel made HT'd 2.4s

As already mentioned, for you just need a barebones server & add-in your existing parts (harddrive, videocard, etc.), this is a very good deal.

Yea from what I have read, you can over clock this CPU extremely high!!! But not with the motherboard it comes with from Dell.

yes, there is P4 2.4GHz with 800FSB HT

It has two front USB ports, and a front audio port. The USB ports are functional, but the audio port is not connected to the motherboard. Of course, unless you either mod the front bezel, or find one from a different model that fits, you can't get to them.
