I just sent you a PM.

I'm a pro with Dells and this stuff in general, don't sweat it. HT is there.

The 2.8GHz @800fsb is definitely HT enabled, who ever you talked to at Dell doesn't know what they are talking about.

As someone already pointed out all 800fsb chips are ht and the only on that isn't 800fsb and ht enabled is the 3.06GHz @533fsb.

Now only if this mobo would fit in to a normal atx case:|

Alright. I just popped a 2.4C in the 400SC to quintuple-check for the paranoid

Works flawlessly. I'll post screenshots in a few minutes...

Sorry, I just got off the phone 9:45 AM PDT with DELL's sales department and found out this is not hyperthreaded capable despite the 800FSB. As an afterthought, I said something about the hyperthreaded capability of this processor and there was this long pause...he called the head of the sales group handling the servers and he stated this is not a hyperthread capable processor. My apologies to everyone

Are you sure? I didn't know Intel made any C processors with-out the HT build in. Unless if the motherboard they use in the 400 server isn't HT capable. Then again, I thought the board is 875 chipset?

Can any one confirm if they purchased one?

You're always taking pictures of your PCs and showing them to your friends.

Thanks for the pics, olliebg. I picked up on this deal with the 2.4C. Will play with it this weekend.

olliebg any more info on whether or not the wholes will line up with a normal atx case?

Also what is dell's return policy? I might just jump on this deal and if it doesn't fit I will return it.

Seems to have some screws as evidenced by the following link.

Bottom of Board

But even if you had to use there case until you figure out how to make a tab system it is still a smoking deal on this setup.

Find somebody to weld the tabs onto your current case, should not cost much at all.

The problem is that gateway used a similar system, they tabs on the mobo tray and special screws on the mobo but it was still an atx case.

Dell's return policy is 30 days for a refund. Here is their policy.

I'm kinda busy with getting ready to go back to school, so I haven't had time to take the motherboard out and check it's layout against the ATX standard.

There are some screws, and the last picture in the gallery has them highlighted. (Thanks to Pete from FW.)

I'll check out your gallery again, thanks!

With regards to the return policy, who pays for the return shipping?

According to those pics there are at least two screws that are in the correct place, the ones to the left and right of the agp slot are positioned correctly. However the one by the fourth pci slot doesn't seem right nor does the one by the usb cable header.

Out of curiosity what is wrong with that case? It's seems like the best part of the deal to me. The clamshell action kicks ass.

I need a larger case because of the various components I have.

two cd-rom drives
live ir drive
mobile rack
floppy
6-in-1 memory card reader

That and I really like my case

And the other reason the case is important is because I want to give my nephews my mobo and cpu and keep the new ones, so the case needs to be atx compatible (not super important because if worse comes to worst I could just buy a new case for them).

Speaking of which, anyone got a 10% off coupon they don't need?

If you ask, Dell sometimes sends you a label. If not, well, if you have a UPS account you can bill receiver. (Somewhat unethical though...) Otherwise, you pay out of your pocket for getting to use their equipment

I was thinking the exact same thing about those screws... We won't really know until someone takes the board out. (And I'm not sure when I'll get around to doing that )

As for the case: personally, I like it. Little different, but it gives you good access to every piece of the computer in about 5 seconds. One thing: it is sure as heck a lot lighter than my Antec SX1030B. It'll be easier to take to school and back.

For the coupon, check FW, there's a thread in the FS/FT forum with free coupons. Might be expired though... not sure...

Thanks for the tip. It looks like all of them are used up

I posted a wtb in the fs/t forum so hopefully someone will have something.

BTW that's the same type of case I have.

A newbie question. When customizing which options should I pick under Raid and Hard Drve Configurations? I plan on using 2 IDE hard drives.

Raid
Valid with IDE Hard Drives only. CERC RAID Controller Required.
  • No Raid
  • Raid1 requires 2 hard drives
Choose RAID for Data Protection and Optimal Uptime Performance!

Hard Drive Configurations
  • C1, Motherboard IDE, Ascending Order, 1 Hard drive
  • C6, Add-In Raid Card,RAID 1 with a 2 Hard Drive Configuration

From Oliie's FAQ:
Q: What's the difference between the C1, C5 and C6 motherboard options when I go to buy a 400SC?
A: They're the same. The difference is to tell the people assembling it what configuration it'll be.
