Prices are still the same:

S200 : $349 - $35 - $25 = $289
S330 : $399 - $40 - $25 = $334

I'm not sure if this has already been posted or not but here's a Canon PowerShot S200 review courtesy of DPreview.com

I'm seriously considering the S200 but am wondering:
1) How fast of a shutter speed is 15 - 1/1500 sec? What exactly does shutter speed mean?
2) Is this good at taking indoor pictures?

My biggest gripe with my current Kodak DX3700 digicam is that it takes over a second, maybe 2 to take a picture from the time you press the button. Then if you want to take another picture right afterwards it takes about 2.5 seconds!

I want something which takes good indoor pictures and fast, is the s200 the right camera for me?

Here are about 52 posts in the UseNet NewsGroup rec.photo.digital

RossMan,

From the review on the S330 regarding shutter lag...

The total shutter lag (time from pressing shutter to actually capturing) varies from less than a second to about a second and a half, this is a little faster than average. In Large/Fine mode the shot to shot time is about a second and a half, this is faster than most digicams.

So there is some, but it's better than most. I don't know if S200 functions the same.

Shutter speed is how long the opening between the lens and the CCD is open for. 1/1500 of a second is very fast and more than you will ever need. it might use this speed on a very sunny day with the aperture open all the way in the lense causing a shallow field of depth. The aperture is like the retina of an eye in a lense.... ahh... you dont need to know all this... the camera is very solid if you have small hands but if you have big hands like me, you might want a camera with a grip so you dont get your fingers in front of the lense when your taking pictures.

picked up a s330, I just bought the s110 about 33 days ago, so dell won't return. Will sell for $315 OBO. I decided to go with the one that is a bit larger for the extra optical zoom and stronger flash. Plus, from the pictures on the reviews I have seen the S330 is looking more like the s110 then s300 in design (exter). Total was $334.10 , with 2nd day air. for some reason my shipping comes out to zero. printed for proof. Also, expected ship date is "on or before 04/15/2002" . yippie can't wait, thanks for another great deals, my fingers a crossed. :0)

Get this, I found this on amex-blue site:

"Return Protection
Return Protection lets you return a covered item purchased with the Card [ even if you purchased it online ] when the merchant won't take it back. Just contact us within 90 days of the purchase, and you will be reimbursed for the full purchase price, up to $300 per covered item.2 "

"Return Protection offers you guaranteed product satisfaction on designated items purchased entirely with an eligible Card. Returns must be within 90 days of purchase. Refunds are for up to $300 per item, with a maximum of $1,000 annually per Cardmember account. For more details or to file a claim, call 1-800-297-8019. Any item purchased from a store that has an established return/satisfaction guarantee program greater than or equal to the terms of Return Protection, and provides coverage for your request for a refund, will not be covered under Return Protection. Cardmembers will be asked to send their original store receipt and the record of charge or any other itmes deemed reasonably necessary to process the request for a refund within 30 days. Coverage is subject to certain terms, conditions, and exclusions. "

Or LINK here if you would like

That is good and bad however, I paid $334 for my s110 from dell. I guess worst case I can get $300 for it from amex-blue, if the auction site doesn't work.

Anyway, real excited about the upgrade, If anyone is interested , if the demensions are correct
there is a case for $8.99 for the S200 (should fit in a S100/100 case) ,
amex-blue

thread s200/110/100 case for $8.99

I love amex-blue, PM and Return Protection

Any deals for a case for the S330 please let me know?

Yes, NB-1LH will last longer. But you can still use NB-1L. It is compatible with S200?

It shows that my pre-order to Tx is taxed, is there anything to take the taxes off?

RossMAN: The shutter speed is the duration of the exposure. 1/1500 sec. is a very short duration which would allow you to "freeze" the image of a fast bicyclist for example. The other end of the scale is 15 seconds which would be plenty of time for proper exposure of a nighttime "city lights" shot. This camera has a very impressive range of shutter speeds. Note that the shutter speed must be appropriate for the lighting conditions (i.e. you cannot just select 1/1500 anytime you want - it must be a really really bright day, you must have the lens set to wide angle to let in as much light as possible, and you must set the ISO to 400 for starters.)

Most cameras take pictures very quickly but most photographers are unaware of the proper method needed. All cameras have 2-stage buttons: press the button lightly and the camera will focus and prepare for the shot within a second or two, press harder and the camera will almost immediately take the picture.

As for the processing time, consider buying a fast memory card. Take a look at the www.robgalbraith.com database for brand suggestions.

Finally, this is a pretty good camera for indoor use. It's only indoor fault is the flash power. If the room is fairly well lit and you set the ISO to 400 it'll perform well.

just got the s200...liked the smaller size...the 3x zoom on the s330 was tempting though...

hopefully i can sell my kodak dx3700 for a decent amount...its a downgrade from 3mp to 2mp but i only use it for web shots so who cares. anyone want a barely used dx3700 for $220?

thanks for the great deal!

i have the s110. i agree the night pictures have much more to be desired.

so should i get the s200 or s330? people keep saying the 330 has more shutter speeds. I'm assuming this will help. But will the s200 do the same job?

Um, who would want a used DX3700 for $220 that you got for $160 when it can be bought brand-new for $207 shipped from buy.com?
