Was going to get either a SONY DSC F707 or a Canon G2 but they are wayyyy to expensive. I checked some of the sample images taken by this camera and they look pretty good (both pro and amateur).
Hope Dell doesn't cancel my order or charge more for shipping. Fingers crossed.

i almost got in on this deal but decided to wait a while and think about it, then i saw people's ship dates in mid may and decided its worth a few extra bucks to get it faster from someone else... while the Dell deal is good, a 6-8wk wait is not appealing... good luck to all of you -- i don't expect the orders will be cancelled, just significantly delayed...

Ouch! But I have faith. My speakers had an ETA of March 13th, 2002 but they arrived on Dec 18th, 2001

Well...you should always expect long delays ordering from Dell through these Anandtech deals.

just a thought ... i have yet to see an official release date for the canon s200 (other than "april" that is) but at tristate camera they say that the s200 will be available on 4/10/02. perhaps dell just put 4/2/02 as a guess, and then when it didn't come out by then they are pushing it back two weeks as their next best guess. if the camera really is released on 4/10, dell should simply ship it when other retailers ship theirs, no? because it's not like other places have the s200 in stock and dell is simply delaying their shipments... maybe we'll get it before the 16th (if canon releases it before the 16th, that is). what do you think?

Even through next day, or 2 day, or whatever shipping method was free, in my experience (yes, I have come across the exact same situation before), Dell won't charge you more, or cancel your order because of this.

Instead, what they did (to me at least) the last time was they simply shipped it ground. All it means is that you'll get it later than you previously thought. But better late than never!

Good business sense though, how many people would actually ring up and complain that their product was supposed to be shipped next day instead of ground shipping? They could quite easily turn around and say, well, if you don't like it, send it back. Besides, you didn't pay anything for the shipping, how could you complain?

Having said that, I wonder if Dell will make a bundle on these items. According to Canon, the MSRP is supposed to be 449 and 499 on the s200 and s330 respectively. But every other vendor shows MSRPs of 399 for the s330 (don't know what the s200 is, but most likely 349). If that is the case, this may not be that hot of a deal (comparatively).

Even with an MSRP of $349, a $59 discount still equates to a 17% mark down for a brand new camera...Not bad !

My wife and I are expecting our second son the first week of May, so hopefully Dell won't delay the S330s too long. I'll wait till mid-April then it is on to the next best deal. I expect to see the delayed e-mail when I get home as today was my expected ship date (outside e-mail is blocked by company).

If I were to buy this local at Wolf Camera (which they have 0 inventory), it would be $399 plus 7% tax = $427.93. Shipped from Dell it is only $357 (NC has to pay tax). As BeBumbleBe said, a 17% savings.

Dell just called me today to confirm the shipping address and said I should get it tomorrow! Damn they are awesome! Last time I ordered a router from them it took them two days to get it to me via ground and from texas to california.
