Dell pre-order on the Canon S200 digital camera, $289.10! S330, $335!

hey i ordered the s330 from dell last nite thru ebates and as of tonite, i still haven't gotten any emails from them! i log in to my account and the order doesn't show. i know that dell is usually fast at confirming orders, but this may be a special case. did any of you people have this type of problem?

for the s200- i ordered 3/28, got a delayed email for the 16th but the website said delayed till the 12th, then on the 13th, got another delayed email with unknown ETA... : / i don't think these are coming for a while...

Is the time limit on movies for these cameras set? Or, for example, if you had a 128mb card could you record a 3 minute clip? Or does the camera limit you to 30 seconds no matter what? If so, could you then have 8 30 seconds movies on a card? Thanks guys. I wish my s200 would get here damnit.

It is in this thread, and has been posted before. But to answer your question. Movies are limited by the 8mb onboard memory. You cannot record upto the size of your CF card.

You can store multiple 8 meg movies on a larger CF card though, yes?

i can get 129 pics, superfine, max res. 100 on 64 and 121 on 80 MB is most likely only on fine.. i can get 200 when it's set to that.

one other complaint i have is the menu takes a little longer that i'd hoped to come up.

Yes. The videos are stored on the compact flash once they are finished recording.

HEY EVERYONE WAITING ON THEIR S200s!!!!

I talked to the Dell CR and she told me that the S200s are IN STOCK now, according to her database. I had to call them because my order was canceled, when I know I called them to tell them I still wanted the camera shipped.

But seriously, I don't know when they're going to ship. The CR didn't know, and her "database" wasn't saying anything, other than that this was from a "mail order company." Who knows which mail order company that is.

So basically, they should be shipping soon. Just an update...

For those who didn't get a confirmation email...I experienced this as well, with this order and with orders in the past. I once ended up getting 4 hard drives because I kept ordering until I got an email. Well somehow those other orders got in anyway. I'm not saying not to order again. I'm just saying if you do...you might have a few cameras delivered.

the SAME stinking thing happened to me too!!! i checked my order status like half an hour ago and it showed CANCELLED!!! i had a feeling this would happen. i emailed them to request continuation of the camera as well! and this was the same day i received that "cancellation" email. i ALSO called them the day after to specifically follow up and request that the order not be cancelled.
anyway, i called Dell again this morning and talked to another CSR - he told me that they had not submitted the request to "continue" my order in time to the manufacturer and that my order was inadvertently cancelled. at this point i was pretty pissed and was explaining to him that i emailed AND called the day of and after i received that cancellation email to continue this order! at first, he didn't seem to want to do anything but i wasn't gonna let him get him get off the hook that easily. anyway, after minutes of arguing, he finally reinstated the order and i supposedly have a new order at the same price and everything: $289.10 - i'm glad he realized THEIR screw-up...
i also asked for an ETA, but he couldn't give me one AT ALL... i'm still assuming the ETA will be end of month or early next month. i don't mind waiting, but i do mind when they screw with the order >: (

Sorry, I didn't have it at superfine (saw the compression, a quarter pie with an s in it and thought it meant small :confused I only get about 65+ pictures (don't know exactly as I have some in there already). Nonetheless the middle compression produces nice pictures, which I swear are better than my s10, must be the CCD sensor or something.

I guess I had a little too much time this morning... so I built a paper model of the S200 and S330 while I was in class!!! =o =o =o


the S200 is alot smaller--i dont mind the length but the difference in the width and height is pronounced.

though, the larger size on s330 isn't necesarily bad because it'll give me a better grip.

i wouldnt mind either... for people that ordered: which one is backed up LATER? Im ordering tonight.,... whichever one will come sooner to me

i also talked to another CR, and what does she tell me? she says, "i'm sorry. we don't know when we're gonna be to ship this product. so many people have ordered this that it has been backed up."

well. i can't wait more than 2 months for this measley crap. i'm going to europe, and it looks like the s200 isn't gonna be going with me.

that sucks. really sucks.

they keep telling me that it can ship earlier, but somehow, i've been let down so many times, i don't think i can trust them anymore. screw dell.

sorry, but that's what happens with PRE-orders with no defined release date. Dell has been extending according to their best to ESTIMATE it's release and to fulfill orders as soon as they had it in stock. The Anandtech effect also plays a large role as it multiplies the number of orders they recieve by at least 20 fold. Plain and simple....if it's not in stock and never has been, don't expect to see it right away. Screw dell if you want, that just leaves more deals for me...hahaha....

go buy one if you can and return the one you get from dell
