i'm looking to take a laptop to work and be able to access the internet from another source other than my companys connection, is it possible to hook cell phones up to the laptop and use dial up service? or anyone got any other suggestions?!

From what I was told, it is very expensive to connect to the internet with your cell phone. Remember it is data that is being used and not minutes, so it can get very expensive depending upon what you want to do.

I've found that the larger the rebate, the faster Dell processes it. I recieved a $1000 rebate check from Dell in less than 4 weeks.

Well, it depends on how much you're getting online with it...if it's worth it for you, and you can get unlimited data for $20 on your plan or something similar, it might be ok. If you're paying for dial-up service (i.e. not using a free one) then you're in trouble, most likely, since your combined cost for dialing up from your cell phone is going to be more than you'd pay for DSL / Cable at home. All depends on how badly you want to be able to dial up from that lappy...might be easier to get a wireless card for the laptop and use a Hotspot near your office somewhere.

Does seem kind of heavy....good for a internet / email machine, of course, but not that portable or convenient.

I have received my last 8 dell rebates in under 6 weeks.
