Pretty hot, I was going to order a few 24-port switches for work the other day and they were priced at $128 each, now $69 - almost 50% off. Glad I waited

We have our AD server and VMWare server connected to the Gigabit ports at the moment. No need yet for a second switch, but when that time comes we'll probably re-arrange things.

10/100 is past its peak, IMHO.
10/100 is still completely serviceable for Internet & small stuff.

10/100/1000 (Gigabit) is ascending - tons of multi-Megabyte digital photos, for example.

NetGear has GS105 and GS108 unmanaged 5 and 8 port gigabit switches for < $50.

Still working / expanding typical existing 10/100 LANs?
Or, time to work on migrating / upgrading to 10/100/1000 ?
Consider each environment separately.

Definitely! It all depends on your needs; don't forget about future-proofing it!

Go use any pricegrabber or any other service like that.

The 8port was $62 from TigerDirect w/ a 15 rebate and the 4 port was in the $40's from places like Amazon. Just do the research yourself.

Using a powerconnect gigabit 24 port for over a year now no problems. Definetley not as loud as my cisco 2924 10/100.

The 2324 is quieter than the all gigabit switch. I've had the 2324 at home for a few years. Good deal.
