Is there a different. I heard that the mobile came unlocked - is the reason?

Two differences. One is it is unlocked, and the reason for that is to be able to run at slower speeds to extend battery run time. This also helps a bit with overclocking (depending on your board and RAM). Second is that they run on lower voltages (also for extended battery run time). Presumably the lower voltage specs also mean that this chip can potentially overclock higher. Otherwise the normal and the mobile chips are functionally and physically the same.

I honestly never figured overclocking was an issue with a Dell while I had mine--I just thought, "no". I should look online more often. Now I need to learn how to OC my a64 3400.

Let's try this again...

Following the above instructions, I successfully OC'd my dimension 2400 2.2g Celeron to 2.92 using pin mod to up the FSB to 533 and vcore to 1.7. Rock solid been using it for several days now, never turned it off and sits in a Zero ventilation cabinet that gets toasty on the inside. Now if there was only a way to hack the bios or cpuid string to id the CPU at a higher frequency.
