Dell U2211H and U2311H IPS Monitors

Hey guys, I was browsing the net and came across these two monitors.

They look fairly new and seem to fit the budget along with the IPS technology.

I was wondering if anyone has any experience with these and might be able to compare them to, say an NEC IPS panel or another panel of similar quality?

I am so glad they are bringing more IPS panels to the budget world. Hopefully they will (please oh please) scrap TN panels for the greater good of man/woman and their colorful world. Hopefully this will lead to a glorious LED IPS

I just received my Dell U2211h yesterday. It is replacing an Envision Pro Series 20" 1600 x1200 LCD which I believe to be an 8-bit panel (I don't know the type) since it has none of the TN characteristics. The picture quality on my Envision is very good and I'm also familiar with the Dell 2007FP LCD (1600 x 1200) which uses an IPS panel so these two monitors are my comparison. The U2211h is excellent. The colors are as as good or better than the other two monitors. Text is very sharp and appears to be better than the other monitors, I would guess because of the 0.247 mm pixel pitch. The factory defaults produced a picture that was a little too light for my taste. I left the monitor at default then used the ATI Catalyst Control Center to tweak the quality. I lowered the brightness a bit and also the Gamma because I like the picture a little darker with bold colors. Driving the monitor is an ATI 4670 videocard with Windows 7. The construction quality is very good. The base is very stable and the screen can be turned/raised/lowered to your preference, in just about every direction. The monitor OSD controls are very easy to use compared to others I've used. I've tried other 22" TN panel LCD's and returned them but this Dell with the IPS panel is a keeper.

why would anyone buy the 21.5" U2211H for $279 when for just $20 more you can get the 23" U2311H? 21.5" monitors are pretty darn small and its crazy not to spend a measly 20 bucks more for a much needed 1.5 inches.

These screens would probably be awesome for an Eyefinity setup, since they have displayport as well. I jumped too soon on the P2310H's

Dell also has an excellent warranty on their monitors. I'm loving my 2709w.
