Good price on a great monitor. My wife has one, and it's really nice. My eye is on the korean 2560x1440 LED-backlit IPS monitors, though.

For those of us in Cali, I bought one from battery-juice on ebay a few months back, and it was a good experience. New in box, with the latest revision (guaranteed by the seller).

link deleted

Same price as newegg, but no tax and free ship.

Please, no ebay links.

Please add that to the sticky on top then admin. I specifically did a search for ebay in that thread, and since I didn't get a hit, I figured it was ok.

Thanks,

You have just done me a great disservice but showing me this. Sure I will "save" a bunch of money.. by buying things I do not need! AGHH
For me, Camelegg tends to curb impulses. Sure saving a "few" bucks is nice, but it has to be a pretty big sale to get me to bite if I don't actually have an immediate need for something.

As for this monitor, Dell puts it on sale for the same price fairly often, often with free shipping, too.

Just got in a 27" Yamakasi Catleap Q270 SE for $289 shipped from ebay. Came in 2 days express from South Korea. Great picture and resolution! A much bigger gamble though. If there was something wrong with the monitor, I don't know how they'd handle the return/exchange. I'd imagine I'd take a big loss on shipping it back to South Korea. But if there are no problems, it blows away this Dell in size and picture quality. Dell still easily wins on the stand though.

Sale over, $319.99. Can those catleaps do 3d? is ebay the best place for one? Is there much to pick from or just one basic catleap 27"?

eBay is where most people get theirs. There are a few versions...the barebones one with just a single dual-link DVI connection and no internal scaler or speakers (which is what most people get due to the price), and than other options with speakers, On Screen Display, HDMI/VGA, and the such. Then there are versions that can overclock to 120Hz for the gamers.

Cheapest the base model has been is $290 shipped from eBay.

27" Korean IPS monitors do not do 3d.

There are a few brands. The main differences are in build quality and speakers, as I understand. You can also buy multi-input models, with DSUB and HDMI. Many sellers offer a "perfect" model, which is either guaranteed to have no dead pixels, or maybe just within spec (not more than 1 in center, or 5 in outside). Regardless of the dead pixels, they didn't meet "A" spec regardless, but are "A-". All of them use the same LG A- panels.

Microcenter carries one model:

Most people go to eBay. There are lots of sellers do a lot of business.

Thanks for the responses. I'd like a monitor with no pixel problems (even Dell's 'perfect guarantee' doesn't appear to cover dark pixels). I don't know what the "A" and "A-" mean.

It's a matter of panel quality. A- (korean IPS) is worse than A (Apple cinema display). There are a variety of criteria that go into that judgement, so I understand.

Most people don't have a lot of problems with a few bad pixels out of a few million. But I'm with you on the "prefer one with no bad pixels".
