Dell recently released the U2713H a sister display of the U2711. The difference being the following. The first entry is that of the U2713H and the second entry is that of the U2711. Which display is better and why?

They are fairly identical, the big difference is AG coating. U2711 uses a thick matte coating and the 2713Hm uses a light coating - heavy matte causes text to appear less sharp on white backgrounds, but matte is better for *heavily* lighted business environments. 2713HM is better for home use by far IMO, in a home environment it will have a more vibrant, sharper image due to using a light coat instead of matte.

Not sure where you are shopping, but Dell has the 2711 for $650 compared to $999 for the 2713H. The 2713 is definitely the more modern design, but for $350 less I'd go with the 2711. Don't confuse it with the 2713HM, which isn't as good of a monitor.

The U2713 has USB3 and the stand id better, it also uses a ton less power and it doesn't have those stupid capacitive touch buttons.

I haven't looked at the U2711 long enough to notice a difference other than the AG coating which I don't like. I heard the U2713 has a lighter AG coating on it so I got that and I don't notice it at all.

The U2713 was a little cheaper here. It was U$700 vs U$750

Are you sure you aren't talking about the 2713HM? It's in the ~$700 range ($740 on Newegg). The 2713H (no M) is a more expensive model. LINK

Oh, sorry, Forgot the H has the better panel. For that price then the U27711 is a better deal.

If money were no object, the new panel is potentially better. I say potentially because it's just been released and early revisions are often flawed. Until people start buying and reviewing the panel, it's a gamble to get one yourself.

The U2711 only has one flaw and that's the aggressive AG coating. I don't really notice it myself, but it bothers some people. Other than that, i calibrated my U2711 with a Spyder 4 over the weekend and the results were outstanding. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another one if i needed to, and the price is good imo.

I use the 2713HM, great display. But I would have bought the H version instead if it was out at the time.

For the OP, I would keep the 2711 for now. Unless you simply dont know what to spend your lottery winnings on.
