Assuming your i-Inc is a TN panel, you'll see a huge difference. For starters, it won't wash out at different viewing angles like TNs do.

Really, though, if you don't need the higher resolution, you can find a good 32 inch IPS HDTV for half the price and use that for your monitor. You'll just have to sit a little farther away from it.

That's what I would do.

1. How much mouse lag will I notice?
2. How will internet browsing look?

Can you recommend a 32" IPS TV?

Thanks!

1) Depends on the model of TV. From what little I've read, some models are far better suited than others for use as a computer monitor.

2) 1080p TVs are 1920x1080 and have a 16:9 aspect ratio, but then so does just about every monitor that's being built nowadays, so it will look just like they do.

You could probably get a better-informed opinion on which HDTVs make the best monitors by asking about it in the Video Cards and Graphics subforum.

i'm thinking of getting a 24 or a 27 one.

coming from a 22 dell i'd say it's good. It has taken some big falls on the screen no dead pixels or scratches.

For those 'whining' about Dell's return policy, they have one of the best policies for exchanges around. They do not have the same (IIRC 8?) bad pixel policy that newegg does. Dell allows you to exhange, in most cases, if anything is wrong.

These are excellent monitors, I doubt most people would return then for a refund. If something is wrong, exchange it. If you don't think you need it, don't buy it!

Im really torn here. I have the money to do it, but putting out over a grand for a monitor is just hard to get past. If I were to go with the 27 inch, what am I going to notice more over my current 28" i-Inc:

1. That it is an inch smaller or
2. How much better the pic is cause of the higher resolution???

Get the 30" and not a problem

Because not everyone is a brainwashed, nanny state-loving sycophant.

Kindly restrict your polititrolling to P&N.

Not everyone is willfully ignorant, a thief, or a dittohead idiot.

I was *responding* on the issue. Kindly keep your drivel to your mother's basement.

Keep in mind Craig that Hot Deals is not P&N or OT. If you continue this behavior you will be banned from this forum.

Here's some commentary for ya: you don't know what I paid or didn't pay. I find that those who are the most critical are many times the same ones participating in what they condemn...

I know you implied you did not pay the tax you owe, making you a thief. Now you want to argue you are a liar instead.

Really tempted by the 2311H... I have a 23" Samsung SyncMaster 2333 now - debating on buying one now, or holding off and trying to save up for a 27-30".

It is rumored the new version will be releasing soon.(1-2 months) Supposedly LED.

I don't follow the models that closely - are the '11' models relatively new, or are they getting replaced already? Sheesh, it's only March. Stinking marketing.

I have a 27" LCD and I am still getting used to it as far as playing games on it. IMO a 23"-24" is the perfect size
do ppl game on 32"???

as for those defending the "excessive taxation" .... they are the same morons who elect other/only morons to lead the multitude of morons.

Dell is similar to Apple and has product refreshes usually once a year around the same time as Apple (spring time frame) IIRC

I have a Panasonic 32" LCD 1080p HDTV that I use as a monitor for over a year now. I believe it has an IPS panel and I do game on it. While my box is presently bottlenecked at the CPU, it handles quite well on PC gaming. I used to do Xbox game sessions downstairs on the pj but having this HDTV with it has pretty much the same effect. FYI, I sit at arms lenght to it. Too big at first, but u get used to it.

How much are you being paid to spam AT with this partisan crap? Hot Deals is not the place for your self-righteous political pontification, troll.

Either contribute constructively or GTFO.

You think LED is better? Not the way dell will do it. There is a reason all highend like Eizo and NEC still use CCFL.

I just wanted everyone to know that before you consider a u2311 please skim the giant thread on them on the hardocp forums. This monitor by dell seems to have a much higher rate of defects as far as tinting changing from one side of the screen to another as well as worse shadows detail and white "eips glow" than other manufacturers that use the same panel - notably NEC. I just got the NEC for 260 something off Amazon and couldn't be happier. And no, there's no ghosting in games.

^This is good to know. I have a Dell 2209WA, and it definitely has that "eIPS glow", which is annoying. I'd still take it over any TN panel, though.

This puts the U2711 at the lowest price I've ever seen it, from Dell (I'm skeptical those other places that said they could sell them cheap ever could), at under $825 U.S. dollars. In Texas, with free shipping, that put my price with tax at $892 and change. You might be able to beat that for an off-brand similar screen by a few dollars (Who is DoubleSight, anyone know?), but if you want one of these now may be the time to buy.

holy lurker batman!
