This is warm IMHO. If you are looking/thinking, it's not bad.

The U2410 is regularly $499 (currently is actually), so you're saving $50 on that. The 2711/3011 aren't too bad discount wise, but the 2311 is a good price since most monitors in that size are $125-150 anyways I'd pay the difference for IPS at that point without question.

Just spoke to Dell, IF for some reason you are not happy, you have to pay to ship it back and there is a restocking fee...

Newegg in particular allowed me to return a GPU after almost a month of me using it for no charge they even covered return shipping.

U2311H is the best deal here. Definitely worth the extra $30 over the U2211H.

That was out of line.

Dell has always had a 14 to 21 day return policy for any reason. They appear to have added the restocking fee over the past several years but they are usually flexible enforcing it.

Technically you have to declare any untaxed internet purchases anyway (and pay tax on them) or be in violation of state law. Dell is just saving you the trouble of keeping track of your untaxed purchases.

And I KNOW all of us here declared out tax on all of our NewEgg purchases...

I did, thief. But thanks for raising others' taxes to make up for you not paying yours.

Why do some people seem to think they don't need to pay taxes?

Anyway, the 3011 isn't a cheap monitor, at over $1100 with this sale... haven't looked at it yet to see what's improved.

Here's some commentary for ya: you don't know what I paid or didn't pay. I find that those who are the most critical are many times the same ones participating in what they condemn...

Because not everyone is a brainwashed, nanny state-loving sycophant.

Kindly restrict your polititrolling to P&N.

This puts the U2711 at the lowest price I've ever seen it, from Dell (I'm skeptical those other places that said they could sell them cheap ever could), at under $825 U.S. dollars. In Texas, with free shipping, that put my price with tax at $892 and change. You might be able to beat that for an off-brand similar screen by a few dollars (Who is DoubleSight, anyone know?), but if you want one of these now may be the time to buy.

For internet purchases:

1) If the company does business in your state, such as has an office or an assembly plant or even warehouse, anything other than just ship to you through a third party, then you will be taxed by the state.

2) Some states have adopted internet goods and services taxing policies regardless of the presence of a business. That means you pay tax, period. I've heard Texas has some such policy but it doesn't seem to cover all goods if it's true. Dell is obviously in Texas, since it was founded here, there's no question about me paying tax on Dell products. Whether or not these policies are legal is a matter for you to take up with your government officials - I don't think they are, but I'm no expert. Governments, like most businesses and individuals, will push the envelope by doing something to see if they can get away with it - if no one cries "foul" loud enough then we could see all the states tax goods sold through e-tailers.

Dell puts their monitors on sale regularly, so what you are actually saving on a U2711 in my opinion is more like $100-175 than $275. Still, that's enough to pay for a decent colorimeter to calibrate it as well, or at least a good chunk of the cost, and was enough to push me over the edge. (I bought an X-Rite i1 LT for $150, which I've wanted to do to calibrate my existing monitors for quite awhile anyway.)

Yes if you are buying one of these monitors please do yourself a favor and spend the extra savings on a colorimeter.

Im really torn here. I have the money to do it, but putting out over a grand for a monitor is just hard to get past. If I were to go with the 27 inch, what am I going to notice more over my current 28" i-Inc:

1. That it is an inch smaller or
2. How much better the pic is cause of the higher resolution???
