Swweeeeet....will have mine for $685 shipped since I signed up with the Dell Preferred Credit Card as well. When you order there is an offer to sign up and receive an additional 25 bux off your purchase. For some reason when I submitted, it did not apply the discount. I called them up and they will credit my card for $25. Kickass...

If i'm successful I'll post all about it.

Woot! Shipped within 24 hours. That was quick. Dell previously estimated shipment by Friday and delivery by August 4th or 5th. Maybe I'll have it by the end of the week!

curtyv - I doubt that they would lower the price below 709 because that's the lowest price in the past several month. Unless you purchase in quantities there is no good reason for them to lower the price just for you. It's still a pretty hot deal consider the quality of this LCD and the price.

I think Dell overstocked with 2001fp (slow summer months - not much stuff sells during summer), so they are trying to get rid of it. Anyways, for all those in Cali, it appears Dell has a warehouse here, that might be grounds enough for the tax - Dell does conduct business in this state. Oh well

Got mine and set it up today. I'm happy with it, a step up from my 21" sony CRT, but the refresh is def worse than the CRT, but it looks very nice (have mine vertical now!)

well to be more descript, I was attempting to get the additional "$25 off your purchase" from the dell preferred account, but the reps I spoke with had never heard of such a promotion... oh well, i was able to dig up an old coupon and get the price down to $699!!!

Does anyone know if Dell fixed the problem with light areas (if i remember correctly) on the LCD?

I wasn't aware that this was a known issue. Mine has light spots in the two corners, dammit, I'm way past the return period. I will say that they are not too noticable and don't really effect gaming at all as you can really only see them when the screen is black.

god damnit... got my monitor in yesterday... and it has a white corner.... not extremely noticible unless i have a black background... what should i do?

yet another coupon today - $30 off $400 - so the 2001fp is $719.25 shipped.

i doubt you are going to be seeing all these deals next week - dell is trying to sell as much as they can before their fiscal quarter ends on saturday which is why they have new coupons every day this week.

Ditto. I also have a stuck pixel (green on black) right in the middle of my screen. Not to mention the screen door effect which I notice rather clearly. I'll try massaging the pixel when I get home, but I dont understand how the backlight problem is still present after 6 months of production.

How is dell's exchange process?

The good: Nice monitor, but nothing so great to write home about. Playing @ 1600x1200 is nice but with new games, it's becoming rather hard, even on 6800 ultra

The bad: uhm, where do I start? First off, 5-6 stuck pixels (one looks like a group of 2-3 pixels); tilted screen - it's not perfectly level in either portrait or landscape mode; USB hub is screwed up (hooking up mouse to it shoots the CPU usage thru the roof), and finally *drum roll* s-video in does not work!!! /rant off

Gah, you guys have me worried about the quality now. Mine's out in town somewhere according to the tracking, being delivered today. Kind of funny, I've had two 'false alarms' already (other deliveries I wasn't expecting).

To all those that got a jacked up monitor. I called dell, and they said they will send out another one to me. They told me to put the old monitor in the box that the new monitor comes in, and ship it off back to dell for no charge. I guess we'll see what comes in the mail next.....

by the way.... is dells customer service located in india? Everybody I have talked to has a really thick indian accent... Its kind of hard to understand what they are trying to say sometimes.

Good luck to all that got jacked up monitors.

Ok got the monitor home this afternoon so far I have not looked in detail to see if I have any stuck pixels or not.

Found problem with USB port... as soon as I hook it up I get a BSOD in WXP. dont really need it I have plenty of connections on PC.. but still should work... might be a software issue.
S video and composite have not been tested... no way to hook it up yet.

other than that... the monitor is absolutely BEAUTIFUL... I love all that extra real-estate... man running it at 1600x1200 is just a dream... so pretty.
even my wife loves the screen... she likes the pivoting part a lot and take up much less room on the desk... can actually sit a little bit away from the screen.
