just bought a 1704FPV today with expected shipping date of Dec 20.
once I receive this lcd, what all tests should I run it through to detect dead pixels, geometry, whining issues etc...etc..

Got mine this morning. Went to website to show wife a link of what I got exactly, and it's only $640 before coupon now!!!

Take off 25% = $480!!? Minus $ discount = ~$450?!?!

There must be a price mistake? Call and ask for difference?

Actually, It's $640 after Dell applies one of their built-in 20% off coupons. You have to remove it before you can add the 25% off.

Does anyone know if it's possible to make the white's brighter on the 2001FP? I went out and bought a DVI card and I must say the monitor looks so much better now than via the analog connection. All of the fuzziness has gone away.

Now, I'm playing around with the dual monitor function. 2001FP and 2005FPw and I must say its pretty neat. I just gotta figure out how to work it totally and it looks like if I keep both monitors (which I said I wouldn't) I'm going to need to find a dual-DVI card.

But, more to my question. The whites on the DVI 2001FP look washed out and grey, and the white's on the analog connected 2005FPw look really nice, bright, and white. Does this just have to do with the contrast ratios difference of the monitors? Is there anything I can change on the 2001FP to make the whites more white?

I got my monitor in today. It's really awesome. It has no dead pixels, and it doesn't look grainy to me. Just nice a crisp (with DVI, the VGA sucked). I do, however, have some light bleeding on the upper left part of my monitor. Does the bleeding get worse with time? I can live with it as long as it doesn't get any worse.
