The 2001FP is $680 in home and office.. and $600 (add taxes) in small business. I'm not sure if the free shipping still exists.

I got mine for $521 shipped, so this is definitely not hot deal for me. However, they might go down again.

Got my 2001FP a couple days ago, looks like there might be aproblem with it. When I quickly scan across a solid color-filled area on screen with my eyes while moving my head slightly, I see what appears to be a fine checkerboard pattern (not quite sure if it's the screendoor effect people were talking about. It looks fine if my eyes are steady though. Are my eyes playing tricks on me, or is the monitor screwed up? I saw the same thing on my friend's 2001FP, so I'm leaning towards the former right now. It didn't happen with my old LCD though, so the latter is a possibility as well.

You are right. I have that checkbord patterns too! It lowers your picture quality and not only that it will make your games look FUZZY. I wrote about these problems, earlier in this form. Finally, there is someone who actully believes me. THIS MONITOR PROVIDES VERY POOR PICTURE QUALITY DUE TO SCREENDOORS EFFECT.

I finally received my 2001FP from the $526 deal... Dell took almost 3 weeks to get it here but the monitor is pretty awesome.

The panel is big and bright with some minor backlight variation near the corners (not as severe as laptops or my friends 2005FPW). The blacks are gray purple, a common problem in LCDs. Side-by-side the 2001FP is significantly larger than the 2005FPW yet still feels like a "4:3 widescreen" compared to 21 inch CRTs.

I haven't noticed the infamous screen door effect. However I can detect some granularity up to 10 inches away from the panel, just as you would expect with an LCD. Also, when moving my head around, the image appears to shimmer (likely due to the protective coating). The shimmer is not a big issue. Also no bad pixels so far.

The 2001FP is pretty amazing for $526 and I would recommend it over the 2005FPW (even if you can find a flawless 2005).

My only complaint is that large white areas sometimes appear to flicker similar to an 85Hz CRT. My vision is very sensitive to any flicker. I suspect the cause is dirty AC power--anyone else having this problem?

try pushing down on the screen as you push the button. it gets stuck sometimes.

Have since called Dell 3 times, spoke twice with LIVE online support trying to arrange to them to have ANYBODY pick up the defective monitor. I'll be watching my credit cards statements and if in 60 days of no activity, I will consider the first monitor mine also. I have spent probably a total of 3 hours at the least trying to get this monitor picked up!!!

I do believe they will charge you... but good luck! At one point in time, I had 4 of these waiting to go back to Dell. Hehe. Remember, if they do end up charging you, the monitor might be considered a purchase and you will have to pay for shipping back to Dell if you were to return it.

All you need to do is talk to dell customer service and tell them the exchange number or the replacement order number from which they can retrieve the exchange number. Then they will call DHL and DHL will do a pick up at your place.
