Yes, the warranty will be applicable even if you sell the monitor to anyone. That person needs to mention original owner?s name and order number to verify that the monitor was purchased from Dell, if needs to seek technical support.

Yes they are still pretty common. However reports of beligerence from Dell support seem to have been exaggerated, I found them VERY helpful. I think the key is to use the online chat/email rather than phone.

My monitor came with backlight issues, so I contacted support about it. They agreed to replace the monitor. I had heard of people getting refurbished monitors as replacements so I made it clear to them that this was not acceptable. There was some confusion with the serial numbers and they thought my monitor was more than 21 days old, and hence the monitor would be refurbished. I hashed it out with them and gave them the correct serial number, and they agreed to send me a new one since it was within the 21 day trial period. Basically, even when outside the 21-day period, they were willing to send a refurbished monitor, and as soon as it was cleared up that it was in fact with the 21-day period they promptly agreed to send me a new monitor as the replacement.

The replacement should be here shortly, hopefully it won't have any issues but I plan on heeding some advice I saw someone give on these forums and keep sending it back until I get a perfect one.

Even with the backlight bleeding though, this monitor is beautiful and an absolutely bargain at anywhere under $700, much less under the $430 that I got it for.

I don't believe so, according the CSR the replacement monitor will come with a paid shipping label to return the old monitor with.
