Just over 2 years ago I purchased a brand new Dell 2005fpw from a fellow poster at Anandtech and did a local pickup. The monitor has been great up until a few months ago. At that time, it started to develop a lot of dark vertical and horizontal lines across it and seems to be remembering images and text for long periods of time (like temporary burn in). Anyways, I believe the monitor has a 3 year warranty and was Manufactured in April 2005.
Yesterday I spoke with 6 different people at dell, all of which refused to help me after a long time of frustration. Even though I kept telling them I bought it new from a 3rd party, they kept insisting they look up the order via MY account. Not one of those stupid Indians (I'm not saying all Indians are stupid, of course not, but every one I dealt with yesterday sure was) would comprehend what I was telling them. I kept insisting to speak with a supervisor and all of them said they were transferring me, but after being on hold 15 minutes I would hear someone pickup the line and hang up. The last time I got to speak with a someone who CLAIMED she was a supervisor, but she fed be the same line the others did - they would only look up the monitor and support it via a service tag on a computer (the retards, all of them, would forget that the monitor was bought stand alone and not with a computer, 3 of them even said Dell doesn't sell monitors by themselves) or the order number. Each person claimed there was no way to help me based on the serial number and or manufacturer date. I claimed that if the monitor had a 3 year warranty and that the manufacturer's date was less than 3 years ago, then it should be covered. They responded by saying that without an order number, they have no clue how long I really had the monitor. HELLO, there's no way I could have it before it was even built. But alas, that logic is beyond them. One of the Dell reps then told me that no matter what, a warranty becomes 100% null and void if you sell the Dell product. ARGH!
Long story short, if someone has an order number for a Dell 2005fpw monitor that they would be willing to share with me so I can get mine fixed, I would so appreciate it. If you need something in return, let me know and maybe we can work something out.
If anyone knows how I can get a hold of a person at Dell with 1/4 of a brain who can help me out, that would be golden too. This has definitely taught me never to buy a Dell again.
