Can't wait for reviews...I've been waiting for the XPS 15 ever since they announced they were making it in the same vein as the 13. I love the minimal bezel and how you get a 15" screen in the form factor of something closer to a traditional 13".

If the reviews are positive I might just pop for the 4K screen with discrete graphics and forego a separate PC at home...not like I game that much these days anyway. Just about anything can handle DotA 2.

It might be 4k, but is it also 60hz refresh rate?

Most of the 4k laptops I have seen to date are 30-48Hz.

Was just reading the WSJ review of it. I actually was in the middle of ordering an Inspiron 11 3000 and contemplating whether I wanted to cancel the order and get the XPS 15 (1080p probably, 4k does nothing for me on a 15" and the 1080p has much better battery life) instead. Decided against it because the 11" Inspiron is probably good enough for what I want to do, but I really like the XPS 13", and the new 12" and 15" look good. If I were looking to spend more I'd be really tempted by the new Surface Book.

Glad to see the glass trackpad. Now, if they would only move the pad up above the keyboard where it belongs.

Uh, what?

I really like the XPS 15. With the 960M it's not a bad machine, but still a little too expensive for what it has.

Almost all laptops share a fundamental design flaw in that the trackpad is located in front of the keyboard where it can easily be brushed by one's palms triggering undesired responses. I disabled the trackpads on my laptops for this reason. Putting the trackpad between the keyboard and the screen solves this problem. Acer had a model that moved the trackpad up for this very reason. A topic for another thread I suppose.

The XPS 12 looks yummy to me.
Same functionality as the Surface Book but starts at $999 vs $1499.

Interesting...I want to see more in-depth reviews include benchmarks but that's a good start. Did Microsoft actually say which nVidia discrete graphics set they're going to use in the Surface Book? I really don't think the 12.5" tablet design appeals to me but if the two are using nearly identical hardware I might consider it.

My decision is - build new PC AND buy new laptop or buy nicer laptop and just use that to drive my monitor when I'm at home (which isn't that much these days). I'm currently using a 2013 MBP so I'm in no rush to upgrade unless it's a significant difference.

Well I found out yesterday that one of my friends already preordered the XPS 15 in a similar spec to what I'd want so I can play with his and then make a decision.

As cool as the Surface Book is, I don't know how often I'd use it as a tablet and compared to a similarly eqiupped XPS 15 it's a lot more $$$.

It's BS that you have to buy the $1700+ configurations in order to get the larger battery. I want dual-core, 1080p, and larger battery in order to maximize battery life but that's not possible. But considering how cheap 2.5" SSDs are nowadays, I wonder if it's worth the trade-off in battery size for that 2.5" bay.

I am eyeing the 1080P, 256GB SSD, GTX 960m configuration, but I will wait and see what the Surface book has for its dGPU (probably a cut down 950m).
