Don't have much time - I'm at work. But credit goes to ******. GREAT DEAL! Also comes with DVD burner & 15 months of secuity. You just have to remove all the extra stuff Dell wants you to buy, expecially the $59 bag on page 3. This beats the $1499 I paid for mine, plus this has the 7800GTX!

HURRY - THIS CAN"T LAST LONG!!!

Still available. There's a thread over at FW. People going back and forth about how good a deal this is. FOLKS, THIS IS HAWT if you're in the market for this type of desktop replacement. Not thin and light that you can carry around all the time. But there is a LOT of power here for gaming. I love mine, though I only have a 6800 Go Ultra. But for me this was all I needed.

i'ts a nice laptop, but the e1705 is better in every aspect (and you can fit the 7800gtx in easily )

Can't wait till this deal dies. So tempted, but I really need Core Duo to use this as my DAW.

If you pay tax you aren't going to be making much on EBay. Especially over the coming weeks as these start popping up enmass. For personal use, this is, indeed, decidedly hot.

I would guess that Dell will be updating this system soon with duo core. The e1705 is a really good lappy, and yes I've read that you can swap a 7800GTX in it. I can do the same with mine - the m170 has the power supply to run it. Don't know how much power the e1705 has, but the 9300 (comparable at the time I bought) had a lower rated ps. A GTX would fit, but some of those that did had issues.

In either case, the 7800GTX Go costs a cool $599 through Dell! May be able to get one a little cheaper, but not by much since supply is not exactly overflowing.

this sucks because my current credit limit is 1362 and I cant make a payment on it over the phone or online, and I cant get an extension.

I don't know if they changed some price or what .. but it's available for 1349 now .. so it's within your credit limit, silencer. I am very very tempted to buy this machine too .. but honestly I don't really need it (Have a m140 already) .. and I am sure they are selling it for the next-gen XPS machines (Duo-core + 7900?). Maybe I would want to wait for those new machines

My system has been GREAT. The only 2 things I've had:

1) Had to strip all of Norton Internet Security and use my regular, reliable programs. With Norton it would not let me start some games for 10-15 mins after clicking, plus would take FOREVER to shut down. Also Far Cry had some texture issues I'd never seen before. Getting rid of Norton fixed ALL my problems.

2) For some reason MCE wouldn't apply DME in device driver. Simple call to XPS support and was corrected in about 3 minutes.

The specialized support is very nice. When you call Dell you punch in your Service Code, which recognizes an XPS and your directed to the special service. My one call was answered immediately - no wait.

The big, shiny screen is VERY NICE, but beware - you may have to adjust the text and fonts for easier reading, a really simple task. Also the shiny screen can be a downside in certain lighting situations. Irregardless, you WILL see reflections most of the time unless you carefully adjust the angle of the display. It doesn't bother me, but for some people may not be right.

The only games I've had to drop res in are Call of Duty 2 (1680x1050 or 1440x900) and Far Cry with 64bit content (1680x1050). Just plain Far Cry for me is OK at 1920x1200. And this with my lowly 6800Go Ultra (same as 6800GS, but clocked a little higher). 7800GTX should have no problems.

It's not light, and takes up lap space. But the gaming power makes up for all small problems.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Dennis
