Dell XPS M1710 vs. Inspiron E1705

I'm looking at getting a notebook/laptop computer with a 2GHz Core 2 Duo processor, 1GB memory, and 17" display. I configured both a Dell XPS M1710 and a Dell Inspiron E1705 with the same specs, but the XPS was over $1000 more expensive. What does the XPS M1710 have that the Inspiron E1705 doesn't to make it worth $1000 more? Thank you.

The XPS can be configured with the GTX version of the Go Graphics card. It also has the fancy lights. The whole "XPS" line is supposed to be a little more expensive than the "Value" Inspiron systems.

Brainonska511, thanks for the info. A little more expensive I can understand, but it was something like $2500 to $1500. Does anybody know more specific advantages to the XPS?

Forgot about it earlier, but I just remembered now. I think the XPS also has a slightly better cooling system (because of the higher end GPU). But i only know that this was true on the 9300/XPS m170 series of notebooks.

I really think that you're paying for the XPS name if you go that route. With the huge price discrepancy, I'd go with the E1705/Inspiron 9400.

The XPS comes with a 7200 RPM hard drive vs 5400, upgraded screen by default and a better default graphics card. Basically the e1705 with alot of the upgrades
