i think they are clearing them out for the "08" models that have display port and hdmi.

Isn't it the case that, HDMI = DVI with sound and (optional) "deep color" support?

So, unless the monitor either a) has speakers or b) supports more than 8 bits per channel color, HDMI is as good as DVI.

I could be wrong but DVI's resolution is capped at 1920 X 1200 for one cable while HDMI is not.

You can go higher. You'll just need a video card that can output as a dual-link port which most mid-range cards purchased today can.

I haven't kept up with the various Dell models.

so the 30 incher is a wide gamut S-IPS it appears.
I think I am pretty happy with a 24'' P-MVA for now, maybe I will save up till the new OLED backlight IPS panels make their debut. Either that, or just save up till SEDs finally come out (yeah right)
