Dell's return procedure

I'm returning a Dell 2405FPW within Dell's 21 days. The rep said yesterday that they would schedule a UPS pickup at my house. She gave me a return authorization number, and she said that I should write the number on the box. She said that the UPS driver would give me a tracking number and that Dell would be responsible for all shipping charges and liability since the unit was defective. UPS would not be able to tell me on which day that the pickup will occur according to Dell. The return address is:

TRILLIUM
2671 TECHNOLOGY DRIVE
LOUISVILLE, KY 40299

This seems like an odd address for a return to Dell since I live only 3 hours from Austin. UPS has no record of Dell's pickup request as of this morning. I'm wondering if I should just pay the shipping and insurance and handle it myself since I only have 5 days to get the monitor to a shipper.

I returned a 2001FP to that same address awhile back. UPS didn't notify me when they would pick up the monitor, they just showed up a couple days later (fortunately, I had the monitor packed up). I received a credit back to my card a few days after they received my monitor.

If UPS doesn't show up in the next day or so, just contact Dell Customer Care again (reply to the email).

Nope, that address is correct. I went through 4 - 2005fpw's and all returns were to that location. And, UPS is rather slow at picking the package up, I think it took about 2-3 days before they showed up at my door after having it scheduled. With that being said, also don't expect your money back anytime soon (at least if you used your Dell Preferred Account). Dell recieved my last 2005fpw beginning of May and I have yet to get a refund even though I have called in numerous times to check the status and the Customer Care representatives just always says, it will show up on the next billing cycle (which hasn't). Though, I haven't gotten charged but it's just ridiculous how long it's taking for the refund to show up.

Ok, that's good.

Did you just have to wait around the house for a few days until they picked it up?

It's discouraging about the refund. I used the Dell Preferred Account. At least you haven't had to make payments (I hope)

You don't have to wait around, but you would have to leave it at your doorway and if you can trust leaving an expensive lcd out

And Dell hasn't charged me, well.. they did charge me, but for $0.00 twice so far
