Get a life. You just don't when to stop digging. Why bring up 2004's data? Make Mike Dell's day...buy more Dell PCs. I've already closed my short position on DELL's stock.

BTW, your credibility looks just like DELL's 1 year stock chart. Keep it up with the next post!

Oh, MY credibility? :laugh:

You began this little tantrum by making accusations about Dell's shoddy cases, then end up posting links to their financial statements.:laugh:

My credibility comes from the fact that I sold over $600K worth of desktops last year, many of them Dell, and many of them custom builds.

Buy from ME! Buy from ME! I've sold over $600K of PCs last year. Perhaps Mike Dell should hire you to beef up his stocks. Bwahhh! I've have enough fun for the day.

Hmmm...the price is $679 with CD writer, 80GB HDD, and 19 inch E196FP LCD (no DVI input). My cost for parts is around $580 but I suspect DELL's cost is just north of $500. Too bad one cannot overclock this CPU.

I can guarantee you Dell's cost is much, much lower.

But if you were building...

Case/PSU = $100
945P Motherboard = $95
CPU = $160
Memory = $78
Video card = $35
CDRW/DVD = $30
80GB SATA = $45
OS = $100

That's over $600 there, plus there is a 19in LCD, mouse, and keyboard.

you can do way better than that. an 820 chip is maybe $120 at most places. you can get them for $90 or so on ebay.

a half decent case / psu is not $100. you can even get pretty good cases from a brand name for $50 with a psi. same with the ram, decent quality ddr2 1gb is about $45-50.

and the OS being xp home, oem is like $70 or less not $100.

But it is not a half-decent case, nor a half-decent power supply. The power supply could actually run a couple of 7900 GT's in SLI, not that the motherboard supports it. The case is extremely well-design. I've worked with a LOT of ATX cases on the market, and there are no $50 cases that even compare with this case. Now attractiveness is a preference, so I'm ignoring that. The case has a lot of very nice features inside, check out the pics I linked to above.

You're right about the cpu. In fact, a 930 would be a much better buy at ~$175 retail.

I'd like to see where you can get some 1GB kits of DDR2 for $45-50, and XP Home for $70. I'm currently paying $82 for Home OEM, and ~$145 for 2GB kits of DDR2 (corsair). The Dell will include either Samsung, Infineon, or Micron.

Even still that deal included the 19in LCD as well as a mouse/keyboard.

seeing as this is the hot deals forum...

frys routinely has deals on corsair or patriot brand ram for $99 for 2 gigs. there was also just a deal for xp home from best buy for $50, let alone the $20 deal at office depot.

or you can try ebay where xp home is routinely in the $60 range. i'm not saying youy can go to any store and buy this stuff that cheap, but its a certainty that dell pays much less than you can get even through a reseller for that stuff.

as for the case, the dell case surely doesnt cost $100 for dell to buy. i actually OWN an antec btx case with a better psu than the dell and it is $75 shipped at amazon. let alone if you decided to buy a case from say... inwin for maybe $55. if you went with a non btx case, i'm sure you can get a case such as an antec slk2650 on a deal for $50 or so. you might even have to buy it at compusa and mail in a rebate, i'm just saying it is possible.

$145 for a 2gb kit of corsair ddr2 533 is a ridiculous amount to pay. check ebay. seriously you can get 512mb sticks for $25 or so new. you might end up getting spectek or having to buy something on a rebate, but you should be able to do it if you're a real hot dealer.

Nope, I do some custom build sales, and they want name brand stuff.
