This is the first day I had to open my windows, so it's time to think about air conditioning. I didn't want to install my window unit because it's a pain to take in and out. I have a Sunpentown portable A/C in another room, but you have to empty the condensation tank every day. DeLonghi Penguino units vent condensation out through the hot air exhaust hose, so no tank to empty. This seems great, but the price reflects the convenience.
iKitchen has a refurb of the PAC210 7500 BTU model on sale for about half of the Amazon new price. There is also a coupon on the site for an additional 5% off. Since iKitchen is in NY, I had the unit shipped to my Grandparent's in NJ to avoid tax.
This particular unit seems highly rated and lots of comments say it's quiet... something my cheap window unit is not. So, at about $379 shipped to NJ, I'm going to take a chance on getting something quieter, better looking and more convenient. They claim it was "renewed" by DeLonghi. The warranty seems the same as the new ones.
This sale apparently only lasts until the clocks roll back Saturday night, so the deal may not last long...
If it sucks at cooling my bedroom, it may be good for my very small computer/server room. I assume there's no tank that could leak water, so this may be an ideal application.
